Chris Burton dominates the podium in the 7yr old class!

The twice Olympian, Australian eventer took the top three placings with ‘Qatar B’, followed by ‘Chedington Azzurra’ and third, with ’Carly 14’

A busy day of jumping in the young horse classes kicked off the second week of the Andalucía Sunshine Tour, sponsored by the ‘Consejería de Turismo, Cultura y Deporte’ and co-financed by the European Union.

Chris Burton, well known Olympic event rider for Australia, dominated the first 7yr old class, which had over 90 participants. Chris won the 2Ph Sp class with ‘Qatar B’ (‘Quiran’ x ‘Connor’), taking second place with ‘Chedington Azzurra’ (‘Arezzo VDL’ x ‘Contendro II’) and was also third with ‘Carly 14’ (‘Checkpoint 19’ x ‘Grandeur’). Chris is clearly a talented producer of young horses and we look to watching his results as the tour progresses.

 

Kendra Brinkop, from Germany also had a great start to the week, taking fourth place in this class, with ‘Quaresma Van’t Paradijs’ and fifth with ‘Quercus Van Den Oude EIK’.

 

The second 7yr class had a large number of entries and was split into two sections.  Dutch rider, Aniek Diks with ‘Quintreau Van’t Hoogeinde’ (‘Stakkato’ x ‘Echo Van T Spieveld’) added another win to the two from last week. The second winner was Spanish rider, Carlos Bosch Cebrián with ‘Jolie Van Der Berghoeve’ (‘Jaguar VD Berghoeve’ x ‘Kannan’). The two ,second places were taken by Hungarian,  Peter Szuhai with ‘For Dilando PS’ (‘For Pleasure’ x ‘Chacco-Blue’) and German, Helmut Schönstetter with ‘Eic Arwen’ (‘Diamant de Semilly’ x ‘Chacco-Blue’). In the third were Spanish, Kevin González de Zárate riding ‘Corinna’,  and the Danish rider, Jennifer Pedersen with ‘Indra’ (‘Kannan’ x ‘For Pleasure’).

 

Another horse by ‘Quiran’ (dam sire ‘Cassiano 3’,), was the winner of the first 6yr old class,  ‘Quick Lady 22’,  ridden by Geraldine Lüthje (GER),  In second was Danish rider, Rikke Haastrup with ‘Cassoulet PHM’ (‘Cassoulet’ x ‘Cascavello’) and in third was Irish rider, Shane O’Reilly with ‘BWE Vain Hero’ (‘Ugadi Hero Z’ x ‘Darco’). Spanish rider Diana Marsa with ‘Diva de Semilly Z’ and Germans rider, Maximilian Lill with ‘Prestige 146’ took fourth and fifth places.

 

In the second 6yr old class There were also two sets of results, ’Mega Coupe’ (‘A Golden Boy Hero Z’) with Carlos Bosch Cebrián had the fastest time of the day, 63.54 seconds and the other winners was ‘Orlando’ (‘Otello’) ridden by the Belgian, Ignace Philips de Vuyst.

In second were the Hungarian rider Rodrigo Szuhai with ‘Chaccoontano SZ’, and British rider, Lucy Struthers with ‘Millthagho MJ’ (‘Million Dollar’ x ‘Carthago Z’).  Third were   Olivier Perreau for France, riding ‘Serafina DBH Z’ (‘Stakkato Gold’ x ‘Ramiro’) and Italian rider, Andrea Messersi with ‘Bambara de Marchesana’ (‘Quick Nick’).

 

There were 166 competitors in the 5yr old class today (FnoT) and 76 were clear, adding to their tally for the Finals which will take place next Wednesday.

 

Tomorrow we continue with the young horse classes, 5, 6 and 7 yr olds.
