390 riders and 420 horses inscribed for the Spanish Championship

Today was the arena familiarisation classes for the 6 and 7yr old Young Horses who have their first qualifiers tomorrow

This week Montenmedio’s equestrian facilities play host to the Spanish Championship with the categories: Absolute; Young Riders; Classic and Young Horses of 5, 6 and 7yrs. Competition will last until Sunday and there are, in total 390 riders with 420 horses. There are also 180 horses at the showground, who will be taking part in the Complementary classes.

 

In the Young Horse 5yr olds there are 37 riders with 49 horses; in the 6yr olds, 46 riders and 53 horses and in the 7yr olds, 30 riders with 37 horses. In the Absolute category there are 21 riders and 24 horses and in the Young Riders, 15 riders with 15 horses. In the Classic sections: the 1.10 there are 60 competitors; the 1.20 is the busiest class with 83 participants; in the 1.30 there are 59, whilst in the 1.40 there are 39.

 

Today the 6 and 7yr olds had their first arena familiarisation class in preparation for the first qualifiers tomorrow. The 7yr olds will jump on grass in the main, David Broome, arena and the 6yr olds will jump on the geotextile arena, Milton. The rest of the competitions will have their familiarisation classes tomorrow and there are also the complementary classes at 1.20, 1.30 and 1.35.

 

Thursday the second qualifiers for the 6 and 7 yr olds will take place whilst the first qualifying rounds for the categories, Absolute, Young Riders, Classic, the 1.40, 1.30, 1.20 and 1.10 and also the 5yr olds, will be held. On Friday is the first final of the championship for the 6yr olds, with a course consisting of 1.25m verticals and 1.20 m spreads. There will also be the second qualifiers for Absolute, Young Riders, and Classic  (all heights) and the 5yr olds.

 

Saturday are the finals for the 5 and 7yr olds, where the best 20 pairs will take part and also the Finals for the Classic categories, 1.10; 1.20 and 1.30, with the top 30 participating.

 

On Sunday we will celebrate the finals of the Absolute, the Young Riders and the Classic 1.40 with two rounds, in which all riders will participate and where the first ten riders  of the first and the second rounds will qualify for the actual final round.

 

We invite you to come and spectate at these exciting championships and remind you that entry to the showgound is free, as is parking in designated areas. There are on site restaurants and there is a commercial area with shops to browse at: all in all, a great family day out.
