Around 600 Young Horses took to the slopes on the first day of the Andalucía Sunshine Tour

‘Hans de Siju’ and French rider, Nicolas Sers, winners of the 8yr old

Today, around 600 Young Horses, five, six, seven and eight year olds, all took to the arenas on the first day of the 2025, Andalucía Sunshine Tour; which is sponsored by the Consejería de Turismo and Andalucía Exterior de la Junta de Andalucía and the Diputación Provincial de Cádiz. The Tour will run until the 23rd of March and there are seven weeks of intense competition on the agenda, with more than 500 classes and around 2.5million euros in prize money. Not only that, Montenmedio, will once again be the venue for both a dressage competition and a CHIO for younger riders making this event a real equestrian celebration here at the largest installations in Europe.

 

The 8yr old class was a 2Ph set at 1.40. The winner was ‘Hans de Siju’, a black gelding by ‘Sunshine du Phare’ x ‘Winning mood VD Arenberg’ and ridden by French, Nicolas Sers.  This pair stopped the clock in the second phase in a mere 26.90s, over a second faster than ‘Sky is the Limit’ (Staccato Gold) with the Spanish rider, Alberto Marques Galobardes in 28.21s. Third was another French rider, Valentin Pacaud with ‘Hera du Paradis’; fourth was Kendra Brinkop with ‘Chinook Pommex Z’ and fifth was Katharina Offel, also from Germany, with ‘Baloutina HB’.

 

There were two 7yr old classes both 2PhSps in the Big Star arena. The winner of the first section was the mare, ‘Cacota’ and the Moroccan rider, Mohammed Azoum.  ‘Dalido BV Z’, by ‘Diamant de Semilly’ was second with Belgian, Dimme D’Haese and ‘C Milord Du Breux Z’ was third with another Belgian rider, Ignace Philips de Vuyst. Fourth was, ’Abercrombie Pommex‘ with German rider, Kendra Claricia Brinkop and fifth was ‘Donjuan de la Pomme Z’ with Italian, Gregorio Zucchini Affronti.

 

The second section was won by a very fast ‘PDV Constanza’ who is by ‘Cornet Obolensky’, with the British rider Chloe Reynolds in just, 27.96s. The local Spanish rider, Carlos Bosh Cebrián, took the next two places, with ‘Sempre Van de Berghoeve’ and ‘Safira Van de Berghoeve’. Another Spanish rider was fourth, Alexandra Woivre Gómez with ‘ET Voila AW’ and Kendra Brinkop took fifth with ‘Sniper Des Lilas Blancs’.

 

There were also two 6yr old classes and Spanish rider, Hugo Álvarez Amaro took the Milton arena by storm, winning the first section with ‘Thunderbird Van de Derkes LP’. whilst also taking third place with ‘Juno de Llamosa’. In second and fifth place was Ignace Philips de Vuyst, with ‘Tapis-Plain Van de Lentamel’ and then ‘Azzaro de la Pomme Z’. Slipping in to fourth was British rider Alfie Bradstock with ‘Mosstown Teensy’.

In the second section Chloe Reynolds once again was on the top of the podium this time with ‘Chasalino PS’. Second was ‘Braveheart JGF’ with Spanish rider, Javier González Fraga; third was ‘Tita Tattoo D’Hoge Rielen’ with Belgian rider Dimme D’Haese; fourth was, ‘Chinra Imperio Egipcio’ with Portuguese, Adir Días de Abreu and finally in fifth, was ‘El Bandito BPH Z’ with Dries Dekkers for Belgium.

 

63 horses jumped clear across the two 5yr old classes who began their week gently here in the Milton arena with FnoT set at 1.05m

 

All the Young Horse classes continue tomorrow and the 5yr olds have their first competitive class this week, in 2PhSp format.
