Two Basque teams have a clean sweep in the Childrens Final: Guggenheim wins gold and Kursaal silver
The Final of the Juniors* took place here today at Montenmedio in the Spanish Minors Showjumping Championships. The winners were Carlos García Sánchez and ‘Coree’ after a superb championship performance throughout. Despite four faults in the second round today ,Carlos and the 14 yr old, ’Coree’, who is by legendary stallion ‘Chacco-Blue’ took the well deserved top spot.
Second was Haizea Garmendia Ajuria with ‘Conthargos Rouge’ with a total of 5.81 and third was Uxue Arruza Rodríguez with ‘Clarín de Llamosas’ and 10.94.
Valencian rider, Paloma Rubio Muñoz with ‘Bip d’Isle’, a chestnut, silla-francés who is 14yrs old and by ‘Old Chap Tame’ x ‘Grain de Voltaire’, is the new Spanish Junior Show Jumping Champion, after finishing the championships on a total of 0 points; Paloma initially shared this score with Marcos Belles Mari and ‘Ange de Baerenrain’ but in the jump off she went clear in an impressive round whilst he retired after a knockdown, giving him silver.
Bronze place was also decided by a jump off, this time with four riders; Izaro Junquera López with ‘Danah’, Emma García Ferrández with ‘Ivettus del Masset’; Charlize O’Connor Cabau with ‘Cardiamour PS’ and Paola Chávez Jiménez with ‘Cappacho Z’. In the end it was Izaro who won the bronze, after a round with just a pole down, so 4 faults in 34.77s; Emma was fourth also with one rail but in a slower time of 40.39s and in fifth was Charlize.
Asturias rider Ana Castro Godlewska with ‘Polidora’ is the new Spanish Infant Show Jumping Champion, in a championship where she demonstrated great consistency, and then excelled in a very close final round. There were three finalists in the jump off round and despite the eight faults she had in the two preliminary rounds of today’s finals, she kept a cool head and had the only clear taking gold.
Another Asturian rider, Rosa Daniela de la Huerga Nechaeva with ‘Fal’bala d’Aury’, took silver after having four faults in the jump off and in bronze was Jaime Suárez Vena with ‘Woletty’ who despite having two great preliminary rounds, had two poles down in the final jump off and eight faults .
In the second Infant* qualifier, a FnoT class, six competitors finished on zero: Erik Hernani Ijalba with ‘Casalli’; Carmen Barinaga Mas with ‘Cancale’; Vicente del Campo de Jove with ‘Contina del Maset’; Javier Catalán Conde with ‘Gismo de Pravia’; Lucas Hernández González with ‘Carwyn HS Z’ and Lucas Morote Soria with ‘Carera des Brimbelles’.
After this second round, the provisional classification in the Championships means that four riders move on with zero faults: Carmen Barinaga, Vicente del Campo de Jove, Javier Catalán Conde and Lucas Morote.
The Basque riders absolutely dominated Spanish Children’s Team Show Jumping. The Guggenheim team won gold and the Kursaal team silver. The Guggenheim team, whose chef d’equipe is Alberto José Navarro Servat, had a brilliant day today with no faults added in either of the rounds and took a well deserved gold. The team riders were: Sofía Azofra Gil with 'Bayona'; Maddi Arruza Rodríguez with 'Ceylan'; Ane López Peixoto with 'Macao'; and Aiora Gerekiz Etxeandia with 'Baila du Veillon’.
The Kursaal team with the same chef d’equipe, had four faults in the first round but also zero in the second, and took silver: Jaitza Lersundi Etxaburu woth ‘Disablue des Baleines’; Martina Garmendia Ajuria with ‘Alios de Fleyres’; Saray Borge Roja with ‘Chestnut de Minabel’ and Jesús Arrieta Quiroga with ‘Isba Caps’.
Bronze went to the Galician team, made up of Carmen Domínguez Magdalena with ‘Macaco Blue’; Axel Hernández Folgueira with ‘Jerry’; Rafael Pérez Ramos with ‘Colada de Walli’ and María González Blanco with ‘Carla Columna’, their chef d’equipe was Jesús Bamonde.
Vera González Baro was top of the podium in the second qualifier for the Children section of the championships, with ‘Carina del Pomar’, going clear in both rounds and with a time of 65.37s. Ane López Peixoto with ‘Macao’ took second place and Maddi Arruza Rodríguez with ‘Ceylan’, was third.
The results after this second qualifier mean that seven pairs move on to tomorrow’s final with zero faults. This includes today’s top three plus Jaitza Lersundi Etxaburu with ‘Disablue del Baleines’; Adriana Catalán Conde with ‘Braveheart’; Martina Garmendia Ajuria with ‘Alios de Fleyres’ and Aiora Gerekiz Etxeandia with ‘Baila du Veillon’.
The Spanish Minors showjumping Championships concludes tomorrow here with the Individual final for Infants* and Children and the Juniors team final.
In the Pony North and South League Finals, María Martín Ocejo and ‘Nicotino’ won the A2 with a total of 154 points followed by Luis Boland Palacios with ‘Cuca’ and Carlota Carboeira Domínguez with ‘Cotton Clovet de Geen Yar’.
In the A’s Martina Boland Palacios with ‘Txibirita Kili Yar’ was our winner with Estrella Valderrama Chicón and ‘Etincelle des Arces’ in second and Sara Ortega Aranda with ‘Dandy’ taking third.
In the Open 1, Marta Sastre Nieto was the winner with ‘Mickey Mouse’ whilst Gabriela Herrero Gil with ‘Imaj du Maicomble’, Olivia Asensio Salazar with ‘Fernhill Pepperpot’ and Carmen Jiménez García with ‘Djumanji du Buhot’ were the podium winners in the Open 2.
In the B2, Sofía Fernández Riquelme with ‘El Estudiante’ took the top spot followed by Carmen Jiménez García with ‘Goldako Minelli’ and Martina Carboeira Domínguez with ‘Junior de Beluchi’; whilst Daniela Marín Rodríguez with ‘Baytize D’Othon’; Silvia Casado Recio with ‘Azucena’ and Cayetana Lara Rosado with ‘Chulito’ were the top three in the B section.
Paloma Sánchez Martínez, and once again Cayetana Lara Rosado and Silvia Casado Recio were the podium winners in the C2, with ’Príncipe’, ‘Repilo’ and ‘Ipipipe Love de Ce’ respectively. In C, Gonzalo Criado Constenla with ‘Houla Hop la Briarde’; was the winner, followed by Fabiola del Solar Enrique with ‘Remember’ and Marta Muñoz Palacín with ‘Cristal Meraniere’.
In the D2, Ella Andersen Avendaño won with ‘Coolagh Lad’; Manuela Rojo Benito was second with ‘Black Arrow’ and Ana Katherine Kline González third, with ‘Colmena Cem’,. In the D, Ana Cabero Rodríguez won with ‘Isenthal’ and second was Rafael Velasco Montilla with ‘I Love de Barbouti’.
