Chloe Winchester and ‘Toblerone OS’ win the Small Grand Prix

Second was Luca Maria Moneta with ‘Knock Out’ and third Pedro Junqueira Muylaert with ‘Dakar’

The Small Grand Prix was set at 1.40 today and the course was designed by Rafael Suarez (GBR). There were 10 horses in the jump off which was extremely competitive with British rider, Chloe Winchester finishing almost a second ahead of her competitors. She took on the challenge from the Italian, Luca Maria Moneta and beat his time, stopping the clock with her 8yr old Stallion, ‘Toblerone OS’ who is by ‘Contendro I’ x ‘Demille M’ in just 36.58s and flew into the lead on this very athletic horse who is owned by Oakingham St Stud. Luca was riding the 10yr old gelding ‘Knock Out’ who is by 'Kapitol d’Argonne' x Quouglof Rouge’ and they came second, as they stopped the clock in 37.51s; in turn shaving a few 10ths of a second off of the Brazilian rider, Pedro Junqueira Muylaert’s time with the very experienced 17yr old stallion, ‘Dakar’ who is by ‘Douglas’ x ‘Emilion’ and who stopped the clock in 37.73s. In fourth and fifth were Swedish riders; Wilma Fransson and the 11yr old mare, ‘Aantiq’ (‘Majim G’ x ‘Flyinge Quite Easy’) in 38.29s, followed by Emma Emanuelsson on the 8yr old mare ‘Dia Fina 3’ (Discontinues x Graf Top) who was first to go in the jump off and had a steady clear in 39.73s

 

In the biggest class today, the 1.45, Dutch rider, Mans Thijssen was on top of the podium, with the 10yr old gelding, ‘Nero Z’ (‘Numero Uno’ x ‘Lupicor’). In second was the Portuguese rider Molly Hughes Bravo with ‘HHS Ice Flo’ (‘Iceman de Muze’ x Cyrano 145’) and in equal third were British, William Fletcher who was riding ‘Quintine Van D’Abdijhoeve’ and Irish, Patrick Hickey with ‘Florie de la Pierre’ (‘Vigo Cece’ x ‘Flipper D’Elle’). In fifth place was Pedro Veniss with ‘Duelante 3k’ from Brazil.

 

British rider, Iwan Carpenter and ‘Merllyn’s Chacco B’ (‘Chacco Blue’ x ‘Contendro I’) were the fastest in the 2Ph Sp 1.35 class. In second and third were Dutch riders, Finn Boerekamp with ‘Maestro G’ (‘Hermantico’ x ‘BMC Nassau’) followed by Mans Thijssen with ‘Knockout EB’ (‘Etoulon’). Fourth was Finnish rider, Nina Fagerstrom with ‘Hasenacher Cervin’ (‘Best Man Z’ x ‘Touylon’)and in fifth was Spanish, Nicolás Bidón Daurella with ‘Cuantas de Torres’ (‘How Many Nouvolieu’ x ‘Calvaro F.C’).

 

Switzerland took the top spot in the 1.30 by the hands of Charlotte Fievet with ‘Erdeven du Tertre’ (‘Putch Des Isles’ x ‘Soir D’Avril’). Second was the Danish combination of Jennifer Pedersen and ‘Kanok-M’ (‘Kannan’ x ‘Baloubet du Rouet’) and in third was British rider, Grace Gilbert with ‘Bonnie’. In fourth was Czech, Emma Sophia Spanko with ‘Longines LB’ and Amy Van de Pol from the Netherlands was fifth with ‘Helios B’.

 

The 1.20 was an accumulator class and the top two places went to British riders; Pollyanna Gredley with ‘Catoki’ (‘Kannan’ x ‘Experio’) who was the winner at this height for the second day in a row, followed by Amelia Gardiner with ‘OCS Double Vision’. Belgian, Charlotte Berghmans with ‘So Easy KDW Z’ was third; fourth British rider Jude Burgess with ‘Starcent’ and in fifth was the Spanish rider, Oliver Lange Fraile with ‘Uapiti de Olid’.

 

There was also a British top two in the 1.10; in fact, 6 of the seven top placings went to British riders. The winner was Lauren Caley with ‘A-Lemonade Z’ followed by Emily Glover with ‘Coco Chanell’. Sliding neatly into third was the Dutch rider, Wimpie Vos with ‘Checkpoint Chacco’ breaking this British clean sweep. Bryony Jones with ‘Billy Kvitfjell’ was fourth and Ronnie Jones with ‘Cascum Rockstar’ was fifth.

 

In the 6yr old Young Horse class, the winner was ‘SLH Fantastico’ (‘Fantaland’ x ‘Landeur’) with Ronnie Jones. ‘Bellini Van Koningshof Z’ (‘Baloubet du Rouet’ x ‘Voltaire’) was second with Belgian rider, Cyril Cools; ‘Madara 4’ (‘Million Dollar’ x ‘Centurion’) was third with Swedish, Lina Renstrom; ‘Chacco Kiddo’ (‘Chacco Blue II’ x ‘Come On’) was fourth with Dutch rider, Luciano Zandvliet and in fifth was ‘For Filefanz SF Z’ (‘For Friendship 3’ x ‘Balou du Rouet’) with Jennifer Pedersen.

 

The 5yr old class was won by ‘Quitalys RDB Z’ (‘Quistello’ x ‘Toulon’) once again with Cyril Cools. In second was ‘Take on Me 3’ (‘Taloubet Z’ x ‘Sir Shutterfly’) with Lina Renstrom. Third was ‘Arya’ with British, Ben Walker; ‘Emperial Z’ (‘Emerald Van’t Ruytershof’ x ‘Bugatti VDL’) was fourth with the Danish rider, Konstantin Deeken Künnemann and in fifth was ‘I-Explore’ (‘Escape Z’) with British, Philip Miller.

 

This is the fourth week of competition here at the Andalucía Sunshine Tour, which is sponsored by the Junta de Andalucía, through the Consejería de Turismo and Andalucía Exterior, and by the Diputación provincial de Cádiz. The week ends tomorrow with eight classes and the much anticipated FEI Longines Ranking CSI2* Grand Prix.
