Chris Burton does it again, completely taking over the podium in one of the 7yr old classes!

Nearly 290 young horses, 5, 6, 7yr olds, take to the rings in the finals tomorrow

Today was another busy day here at the XXIX Andalucía Sunshine Tour, which is kindly sponsored by the Consejería de Turismo, Cultura y Deporte, and co-financed by the European Union.  Once again the 5, 6 and 7yr olds were out competing on their last day before the finals, tomorrow; when there will be nearly 290 horses competing across the three age groups. There are 75 horses in the 5yr olds at 08:30 in the Milton arena (5) set at 1.20m;  117 in the 6yr olds at 11:00 in the Guaraná Champeix (9) arena and they will jump a track of 1.30m, and   finally, at 14:30 the 7yr olds will jump in the grass Hickstead arena (1)  over a track set at 1.40m. All three finals are Jump off classes.

 

Todays results were almost a repeat of last Monday’s, for the amazing Australian event rider, Chris Burton. Once again he dominated the first 7yr old class leaving no room for anyone else on the podium.  This week he won the class with ‘Chedington Azzurra’ (‘Arezzo VDL’ x ‘Contendro II’) who is owned by Guy Bloodstock Ltd; was second with ’Carly 14’ (‘Checkpoint 19’ x ‘Grandeur’), owned by Larissa Stigter and was third with , ‘Qatar B’ (‘Quiran’ x ‘Connor’) owned by Burton Equestrian Partners.

 

In the second 7yr old class the winner was the German Helmut Schönstetter con ‘Eic Arwen’ (‘Diamant de Semilly’ x ‘Chacco-Blue’) who is owned by MK Sportshorses, Max Kühner.  In second was the Dutch rider, Aniek Diks on her own ‘Qointreau Van’t Hoogeinde’ (‘Stakkato’ x ‘Echo Van T Spieveld’) and in third was Spanish rider Carlos Bosch Cebrián with his own, ‘Jolie Van Der Berghoeve’ ( ‘Jaguar VD Berghoeve’ x ‘Kannan’).

 

The first 6yr old class was won by the French rider Olivier Perreau with ‘Serafina DBH Z’ (‘Stakkato Gold’ x ‘Ramiro’), second was Polish rider, Maksymilian Wechta with ‘Next One’ and in third, was the Moroccan rider, Leina Benkhraba with ‘Herika du Luot’.  In the second class Carlos Bosch was the winner with  ‘Mega Coupe’ (‘A Golden Boy Hero Z’). German riders completed the podium in this class, Manuel Feldmann with ‘Valdina Van de Fruitkorf Z’ (‘Vagabond de la Pomme’ x ‘Clinton’) and Helmut Schönstetter with ‘Elektric Explosion’ (‘Veyron’ x ‘Chacco-Blue’).

 

There were also two  5yr old classes.  The winner in the first was Czech rider, Jaroslav Sima with ‘Sashimi JB’ (‘Nixon Van’t Meulenhof’); second was British rider, Megan James with ’N. Corofina Texel’ and in third was another Czech rider,  Dusan Simovski with ‘Dickens LB’.  In this second class a German rider took both top spots, Thibault Vermeulen, with ’Fahidi D’ Elsendam Z’ (‘Fantomas de Muze’ x ‘By Cerira D’Ick’) and ‘Simon Van D’Abdijhoeve’ (‘Canturano’ x ‘Mandoline’). In third was British rider,  Jessica Williams with ‘Pria Blue PS’.
