Dutch rider, Aniek Diks with ‘Qointreau Van’t Hoogeinde’ has the fastest time of the day in the 7 ye

German rider, Guido Klatte with ‘Venga Boy 4’ and Harry Allen with ‘Check Me Z’ take the wins in the other sections of the 7yr class, that saw 215 competitors take to the arena

It was another busy day of jumping here at Montenmedio’s XXIX Andalucía Sunshine Tour. The young horse classes (5, 6 and 7yrs) were full to the brim, and today, were swapped into different arenas. More than 600 combinations jumped over the course of the day, in this impressive event that is sponsored by the ‘Consejería de Turismo, Cultura y Deporte’ and co-financed by the European Union. Tomorrow as the first of the six 4*s starts up, this number will rise exponentially!

 

Top of the leaderboard today in the first, 7yr old class today was the German rider  Guido Klatte with ‘Venga Boy 4’, in second was Belgian rider, Ignace Philips de Vuyst with ‘Queen-Lisa de Guldenboom’ and in third, top Australian event rider, Chris Burton with ‘Chedington Azzurra’.

 

In the second class, which was divided into two sections, the winners were the Dutch rider Aniek Diks, who had the fastest round of the day, with ‘Qointreau Van’t Hoogeinde’, and Irish rider,  Harry Allen with ‘Check Me Z’. Harry had a fabulous day as he was also second with ‘Kumina Della Caccia’.  The other combination taking second place was the American, Michael Hughes with ‘Gucci du Hamel’. German rider, Kendra Brinkop with ‘Cinnamon Pommex Z’ and Spanish rider, Álvaro González de Zárate with  ‘Chust do it’ took third.

 

215 horses jumped in this section however the 6yr old class had 250 horses participating!

 

Norwegian rider, Ole Kristoffer Meland with ‘Harcy Folle’; British rider, Rebecca Middleton with ‘Leta LVP’ and the Hungarian rider Rodrigo Szuhai with ‘Carta Blue SZ’ were the top three in the first 6yr old class.

The other two winners in these 6yr old classes, were Ignace Philips de Vuys, once again on the podium, this time with ‘Orlando’ and Spanish rider, Juan Cortiguera Ruiz with ‘Mycox’.  In second were Czech rider, Jaroslav Sima with ‘Raoul Dwerse Hagen’ and German rider, Geraldine Lüthje with ‘Quick Lady 22’. And finally, third placings went to  Spanish rider, Alejandro Fernández with ‘Colossus HD’ and again Philips de Vuyst, who has a brilliant string of young horses, this time he was riding‘Ragnar VDB’

 

In the 5yr old classes, one of our winners was a Belgian rider, a regular here at the Tour, Inge Carton with ‘Madame Van Het Hellegat Z’;  they won the first class, a 2Ph Sp, in a time of 24.63 segundos. British rider, Megan James with ’N. Corofina Texel’ was the winner of the second class in just 23.88 segundos. Second places were taken by Jaroslav Sima with ‘Senorita JB’ and The Spanish rider, Llorenç Castan Guiu with ‘Under Pressure’. In third were Finnish rider, Erika Hanhisuanto with the very consistent  ‘Ascalina D Ive Z’ and Spanish rider, Alejandro López-Arostegui Galarza with ‘Otis la Vida’.

 

Tomorrow there is an intense day of jumping with the last day of the young horse classes for this week, an additional 1.40m 8yr old class, that is new here at the Andalucía Sunshine Tour, and the start of both the BIg and Medium Tours. The highlight class of the day will be the 1.50m Big Tour class, held on grass in the David Broome arena; but also not to be missed, are the three Medium Tour classes.
