On Friday the 14th of October this week, 18 teams will take place in the 3* Nations Cup round here at Montenmedio. ‘The Nations' Cup is equestrian sport’s oldest and most prestigious team challenge, with national teams from around the globe competing' it is a colourful event that is always full of exciting moments and tense competition, and which is highly anticipated by riders and spectators alike, and we are delighted to host it here at the fifth Andalucía October Tour.
Teams competing will be: Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Denmark, France, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United States, which will begin at 13:00 in the main grass arena, David Broome and the international course designer will be Javier Trenor.
The contest generally consists of two jumping rounds where all team members will jump, usually only the top ten teams move on to the second round and, if after this, two teams finish on the same result there will be a jump off between one of the members of said teams. The event will terminate around 16:00 when there will be a prize-giving where the KAR Sport Horses Trophy will be awarded to the winning team; the President of the Real Federación Hípica Española, Javier Revuelta, and the president of the Diputación Provincial de Cádiz, Almudena Martínez del Junco will be an integral part of this prize-giving committee.
This week’s competition begins tomorrow with the Young Horses (5, 6 & 7 yr olds) and on Thursday the CSI2*(1.40, 1.35, 1.30), and the first individual CSIO3* (1.50, 1.45, 1.40) will begin.
