Frank Schuttert and ‘Gream’: an impressive win for the Netherlands in the 1.50 Ranking class
German rider, Kendra Claricia Brinkop and ‘Ma Belle’ win the second Rankings class of the day
62.39s was the time that the talented Dutch rider Frank Schuttert stopped the clock in the Big Tour 1.50, Longines Ranking class. There were 76 entries and the class was held in the main David Broome arena. This incredibly fast time was achieved by the very athletic 13yr old gelding, ‘Gream’, who is by ‘Verdi TN’ x ‘Ultimo’. In second place with 63.91s on the clock, was Italian Giulia Martinengo Marquet with ‘Coynor’; third was the very successful Dutch rider, Sanne Thijssen with ‘Con Quidam RB’; fourth was British, Matthew Sampson, recently arrived and buoyant from an very successful time in the north of Europe, today he was riding ‘Concare PS’. In fifth was Belgian, Jerome Guery with ‘Careca LS Elite’.
In the second Longines Ranking class, the Medium Tour 1.45, another top German rider took the win, Kendra Claricia Brinkop with ‘Ma Belle’ in 22.50s and she was closely followed by the Moroccan, El Ghali Boukka in 22.55s with ‘Ugolino Du Clos’. Third was Canadian, Kara Chad with ‘Easy Boy D’Aubey Z’; fourth top French rider, Penélope Leprevost with ‘Djagger Semilly’ and fifth German Daniel Deusser with ‘Loui LN’.
Sanne Thijsen was on top form today and won the Medium Tour 1.50 in a Dutch top two. She was riding ‘Keiralanda VDM’ and they had a stunningly fast second round, of 22.49s and second was Mel Thijssen with ‘Grieg S’ in 23.63s. Giulia Martinengo was successful once again with third place on, ‘Claristo 3’. Kendra Claricia Brinkop was fourth with ‘Nector VD Bisschop’ and finally, Odile Gierech from Luxembourg was fifth with ‘Hurricane DB’.
Nicole Lockhead Anderson continues her run of top placings; today she won the Big Tour 1.45 with ‘Vogue TW’. Jerome Guery was second with ‘Alibi de la Roque’ and the Turkish rider, Derin Demirsoy with ‘Hunter’ was third.
In the 1.35 Big Tour there were 116 participants. Italian,Luca Moneta was one of our two winners with ‘Chilli 41’ and Czech rider Albert Pisarik with ‘Chapo 2’ was the second winner. Second places were taken by Irish, Patrick Hickey with ‘Claudine Fly’ and Belgian, Ignace Philips de Vuyst with ‘Jasper’. Third were Spanish, Kevin González de Zárate with ‘Loek’ and Irish,Shane Dwan with ‘Cascalino 7’.
British, Olivia Sponer continúes her success with ‘Crazy Girl’ and today they were joint winners alongside, Albert Pisarik this time riding ‘Goldenstar’ in the Medium Tour 1.40, which had 113 participants. Second were Italian, Giulia Picotto with ‘Armani Z’ and Belgian, Gilles Thomas with ‘J. Comghorla Van Beek’. In third were British, Emma Manton with ‘Vanilla Fusion’ and Polish, Andrzej Oplatek with ‘Cascalou 3’.
Moroccan, Farid Amanzar with ‘Elvis Van Overis Z’ and top British event rider, Gemma Stevens with ‘RSH Monbeg Marshall’ were the winners of the Medium Tour 1.30 and 1.20, respectively.
Spanish, Uxue Arruza Rodríguez with ‘Ceylan’; British, Arianna Kuligowski with ‘Ivascalle’ and French, Camille Arditty with ‘Jaqui’ were the winners of the CSI1* the 1.30; 1.20 and 1.10m respectively.
Tomorrow we have an intense day of competition here at the Andalucía Sunshine Tour, sponsored by the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the Government of Andalucía, through Tourism and Sports of Andalucía. There are 14 classes including a FEI Longines Ranking and a Grand Prix qualifier for the 2024 Olympics and also the 2025 Europeans, with top internacional riders taking part in these classes, the quality of the competition will be very exciting.
Entry to the showground is free, as is the parking. Here you can enjoy a wonderful family day out in the countryside. There are many things to do at the show, with an extensive commercial area, restaurants that suit all tastes and an exhibition, celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the Andalucía Sunshine Tour, where you may see in photos, the enormous evolution and growth of the installations and the Tour, across the years.
