German rider, Gerrit Nieberg fought off a tight battle with his compatriot to take the win in today’s Stephex Grand Prix Ranking class, with the 10yr old ‘Ping Pong van de Lentamel’ who is by ‘Emerald’ x ‘Toulon’. The pair had a really fast round in the seven horse jump off, stopping the clock in 43.99s almost a second in front of Jens Baackmann with ‘Lorenz 86’ (‘Livello’ x ‘Clarimo’). Third was French rider, Nicolas Sers with ‘Eleven de Riverland’ (‘Kannan’ x ‘Diamant de Semilly’), fourth Belgian, Nathan Budd with ‘Tourdo Blue Z’ (‘Toulon’ x ‘Arko III’) and fifth Spanish, Alberto Márquez Galobardes with ‘Ucello Massuere’ (‘Cassinni II’ x ‘Galoubet A’). This European 2025 qualifier was set at 1.55m and held in the main grass arena, David Broome.
The Medium Tour GP was well up to height at 1.50m and held in the Hickstead grass arena. The class was won by Odile Gierech for Luxenberg, with ‘Qallas de Septon’ (‘Vigo D’Arsouilles STX’ x ‘Echo Van T Spieveld’) in a ten horse jump off. In second was Joäo Victor Castro with ’Cashpaid’ for Brazil, third was Jens Baackmann with ‘Zealand’, fourth was Anastasia Nielsen for Monaco with ‘Dark Chocolate’ and fifth was New Zealand’s Bruce Goodin with ‘Carlsson’.
The Small Tour Grand Prix was won by French rider, Apolline Cozien with the 12yr old ‘Dicosie de Clemaline’, by ‘Kannan’ x ‘Fergar Mail. This 1.45 Ranking class was very competitive and coming in second, just 0.10s slower, was Belgian, Claire Putters with ‘High Fly Special’; French Nesrine Mason was third with ‘Fraya Wiro’; British Remy Ellis was fourth with ‘Flinton C N’ and Spanish rider, Telmo Busca Roca was fifth with ‘Enjoy du Herrin’.
In the Big Tour 1.45 there was a win for Morocco from Vincent Zacharias Bourguignon with ‘Prince of Bel Air Van Euverbraeke’. Second was Swiss rider, Noah Keller with ‘Carina Z’ and third, Belgian, Thibault Philippaerts with ‘Honfleur’.
In the 1.35 Big Tour class our winner was Estonian Grete Veske with ‘Basic’ followed by two Belgian riders, Lara Eggermont with ‘Kannet V.D. Rikse’ and Maverick Van Lent with ‘Rendez-Vous du Risoir’.
Sanne Thijssen (NED) took the top spot in the Medium Tour 1.40 with ‘QH Babalou Santo Antonio’ (‘Balou du Rouet’ x ‘First de Launay HN’), second was Alexis Goulet (FRA) with ‘Fiore Z’ and third, Hugo Tavares (POR) with ‘Berlouke Al Z’.
In the Medium Tour 1.30, Moroccan Samy Colman was our winner with ‘Exquise de Ouistreham’, followed by local rider, Alejandro Fernández Sánchez with ‘Balthargos PS’ and once again Sanne Thijssen was in the rosettes, in third with ‘Os Le Petit Cheval’.
Ignace Philips de Vuyst was the winner of the Medium Tour 1.20 with ‘Supreme de Guldenboom’ (‘Chaiton’ x ‘Vigo D’Arsouilles’) for Belgium. Second was Moroccan Soukaina Ouaddar with ‘Colibri de Hus Z’ and third was Irish, Cathal Daniels with ‘Rioghan Rua’.
Spanish, Elena Appendino and ‘Grupo Prom Hacienda’ won the Small Tour 1.40, in front of British rider, Molly Davies with ‘Imagine H’ and German, Maximilian Lill was third with ‘Kommandant 10’.
Irish, Marta Hughes-Bravo and ‘HHS Toronto’ took the top spot in the Small Tour 1.30, followed by British, Jodie Joanne Burchmore-Eames with ‘Contessa Z’ and French rider Faustine Laferrerie with ‘Helsinky de Laume’.
Moroccan, Farid Amanzar was the winner with ‘Elvis Van Overis Z’ of the Classic Tour 1.35. French rider, Carla Nahra won the Classic Tour 1.25 with ’Flicka du Tulipier’ and finally, Moroccan Safia El Bied and ‘Astrait de Huis,’ won the Classic Tour 1.15.
These results bring to a close a very busy day of jumping here, finishing off the first week of the Andalucía Sunshine Tour, the event is sponsored by the Junta de Andalucía, through the Consejería de Turismo and Andalucía Exterior, and the Diputación Provincial de Cádiz. Competition continues next week from Tuesday here at Montenmedio with the Young Horse classes.
