Eduardo Pereira de Menezes won the Ranking class with ‘Kay’s Pleasure Hero Z’
Italian rider Giampiero Garofalo was top of the podium in the 1.40, Small Grand Prix class sponsored by the Hospital de Referencia La Equina. He was riding ‘Mister Coconut’, an eight year old gelding by ‘Gaspahr’ x ‘Coconut Grove’ and owned by Stal Hendrix.
This was a big class with 73 entrants and 19 passing on to the very competitive jump off in the Milton arena. Garofalo’s round was fast, stopping the clock in 39.90s, the only clear in under 40s. Brazilian, Eduardo Pereira de Menezes with ‘H5 Messentus PS’ was second; Spanish, Hugo Álvarez Amaro with ‘Billie de la Mire KAR’ was third; Austrian, Max Kühner with ‘Count On Me 19’ fourth and in fifth was Swedish rider, Alexander Zetterman with ‘Koh-I-Noor’.
The 1.45 Longines Ranking class was won by Eduardo, this time he was riding ‘Kay’s Pleasure Hero Z’, a nine year old mare by ‘Kassander Van T Roosakker’ x ‘For Pleasure’, taking the top spot in just 22.88s. In second place was Italian, Luca Moneta with ‘El Capone RK’ who won the 1.40 on Friday. Spanish rider, Álvaro González de Zárate with ‘Coralin 8’ was third; fourth was Alexander Zetterman this time on ‘Parfait D’Avril’ and Carlee McCutcheon was fifth with ‘Coco Mercedes’.
Austrian rider, Jannik Domaingo and ‘Cleo 276’ (‘Cicero Z Van Paemel’ x ‘Landjunge’) were the winners in the 1.35 2PhSp class. Their time in the was 28.98s in the second phase; second was Hugo Álvarez Moya this time riding ‘La Plus Belle VDW Z’. German rider, Tom Schewe was third with ‘Khanum’; British, Rebecca Marsh, fourth with ‘Elegance Z’ and Irish, James Derwin, was fifth with ‘Amos L Z’.
The 1.30 was won by Spanish rider Álvaro González de Zárate with ‘Xanadu de Olid’ beating off Luca Moneta and ‘Carla de Boaz’ by 6/10s of a second. The Irish rider Aire Shortall was hot on their heels in this extremely competitive class, with ‘Killerisk Can Ya’. Fourth was Spanish rider, Virginia Lezama-Leguizamon Acha with ‘Elinka de Riverland’, and in fifth was Swiss rider, Bryan Balsiger with ‘Highlight’.
The 1.20, win went to British rider, Sophie Slater with ‘Okehurst MR Mexico’; second was Finnish rider, Ruusa Pukkonen with ‘Zenon Z’; German rider, Stephanie Bohe was third with ‘Colland SR’; Spanish, Marta García Garat was fourth with ‘Espoir du Chene’ and Irish, Gerard Campbell was fifth with ‘Livio’.
Cassandra Cope took the top two spots in the 1.20 class, first with ‘Hamlets Fire’ and second with ‘Michelob’. The rest of the riders on the podium were all Spanish: Sol Daurella Comadrán with ‘Bangkok de Mars’ was third; Salvador Cámara Martín with ‘Guess Galante’, fourth and in fifth was Ely Vizcaíno Lawrence with ‘Enzo’.
In the 6yr old Young Horse 1.30 class the winner was ‘Celine A.S Z’ by ‘Cisco von Rotcheck’, with British rider, Chloe Aston; ‘E-Quality DW Z’ was second with the Belgian rider Thomas de Wit; ‘Okido’, was third with Portuguese rider, Martim Portela de Morais; ‘Oh My God’, was fourth with Ecuadorian Ana Carolina Sandoval Muñoz and in fifth was ‘O Dorado Equigenne’, with another Portuguese rider, Joao Marquilhas.
In the 5yr old 2PhSp class, the winner was ‘Borriane FFA Z’ who is by ‘Bamako de Muze’, with the Danish rider, Line Wartenberg Wollesen; they were followed by ‘Ultreya Van Het Audgoed’; ‘Unnur DC’ and ‘Tarmitage de Folch’ with the Spanish riders, Mickey Seaquist Fernández-Cavada, Samuel Oliva Martínez and Jesús Folch Redondo, respectively. In fifth was ‘Chadandra PS’ with Sonia Leena Hungerbühler from Finland
Tomorrow is the last day of this very bust week here at the fifth Sunshine tour which is kindly sponsored by the Consejería de Turismo y Andalucía Exterior de la Junta de Andalucía, and the Diputación Provincial de Cádiz (Ministry of Tourism and Andalusian Foreign Affairs of the Andalusian Regional Government, and the Provincial Council of Cádiz). The highlight class of the week will be the Land Rover Grand Prix, a Longines Ranking class. The rest of the CSI3*classes will continue (1.35, 1.25 and the 1.15) and the 7 and 6 yr old Young Horses will be jumping.
