Belgian, Gilles Thomas and the ten year old ‘Chuck Marienshof Z’ by ‘Colestus’ x ‘Emerald’; owned by Stal Marienshof, flew around the 1.50, Ayuntamiento de Vejer de la Frontera Trophy class today, as the second week of the CSI4* here at the Andalucía Sunshine Tour started up. In the main grass arena, David Broome, this pair stopped the clock in 64.31s, ahead of German rider, Kendra Brinkop in 64.99s with ‘MA Belle’ (‘Ugano Sitte’ x ‘Bayard D’Elle’) who took the runner up spot, a repeat of their results last week. These two were the only clears in under 65s today. British Graham Gillespie and ‘Veneno’ (‘Chacco-Blue’ x ‘Baloubet du Rouet’) were third, their second podium place here so far. Fourth was Italian, Ricardo Pisani with another ‘Chacco Blue’ horse, ‘Chacco’s Lawito PS’ and in fifth was Morrocan, Vincent Zacharias Bourguignon with ‘Prince of Bel Air Van Euverbraeke’ (‘Lavallino Ter Klomp’ x ‘Deauville de la Vie’).
The riders received their prizes and trophies from the mayor of Vejer, Antonio González, and representatives from the Vejer Ayuntamiento, Manuel Jesús Melero and Francisco Javier González.
There was another Belgian win, this time in the 1.45 Medium Tour, held in everyones favourite grass arena, 1 Hickstead. The star of the show was Roy Van Beek with the super 11 year old mare ‘Frieda’, by ‘Stakkato Gold’ x ‘Duntroon’ and who was second in this class last week. Today in a mere 60.63s they flew around taking a well deserved win, from Moroccan El Ghali Boukaa and ‘Goldeneye Des Court’ (‘Apollon des Baleines’ x ‘Baloubet du Rouet’) who was second in 62.92s; French rider, Valentin Pacaud with ‘Balcanno PS’ (‘Baloubet du Rouet’ x ‘Centadel’) was third with Swedish, Jacob Hellström and ‘Sweet Sandra’ (‘Sandro Boy’ x ‘Careful 28’) in fourth and Danish, Jennifer Pedersen with ‘Catdaddy’ (‘Cascadello’ x ‘Quidam de Revel’) in fifth.
The Medium Tour 1.40 had 112 competitors and was divided into two classes. Spanish, Carolina Villanueva was the fastest of the winners with the 16 year old, ‘Voice de Chenais’, by ‘Diamant de Semilly’ with Italian Andrea Messersi and ‘Virocondo Z’ (‘Va-Vite’ x ‘Lys de Darmen’) taking the second top spot. Second places were taken by Brazilian, Andre Reichmann with ‘Cookie du Bassin’ and Spanish, Álvaro González de Zárate with ‘Casper de Luxe’; third places were Hungarian, Laszlo Toth with ‘Toll Central’ and Jacob Hellström with ‘Quibelle VD Bisschop’.
The Big Tour 1.35, was also split, with two Belgian riders, taking the two top podium places. Roy Van Beek with ‘Celebrity- H’ and Dimme D’Haese with ‘Panache V/D Wateringhoeve’. Second were Estonian, Grete Veske and ‘Basic’ and the French rider, Alexis Goulet with ‘Helectra du Rozel’. Third were Swedish, Sofía Westborg with ‘Hello HX’ and British, Laura Kennedy with ‘Diversity Millfield Z’.
Dutch rider Yoni Van Santvoort and ‘Dilly Dally Z’ were the winners of the Big Tour 1.30. Second was Italian, Edoardo Ingrà with ‘Qualityhens’ and third, Portuguese, Alice Laruça with ‘Karim’.
Swiss, Noah Philips de Vuysttook the top two spots in the Medium Tour 1.30; winning with ‘Rembrandt Van Het Keysersbos’ and second with ‘Quantor’. Third was French, Gregoire Hercelin with ‘Cash de Beaufour Z’.
The Young Horse classes: In the eight year old class Swedish, Alexander Zetterman steered his two horses into first and second place, ‘Gorklintgards Caspian DWB’ and ‘Hiron D’Elle’. Yesterday’s winner ‘Loughnatousa Buachaill’ with British Jemma Kirk was third.
The seven year old winners were ‘Cardi MT’ in the first class, with German, Helmut Schönstetter followed by ‘Cacota’ and Moroccan, Mohammed Azoum and ‘Noblesse Nada RT’ with Swedish, Sofía Westborg.
In the second class the winner was ’C Milord du Breux Z’with Belgian, Ignace Philips de Vuyst; second was ‘Sniper des Lilas Blancs’, ever consistent with Kendra Brinkop and third was ‘Tequila Sunrise O.S’ with British, Laura Mantel.
The first six year old class had a clear British flavour, the winner was ‘Eltharga PS’ with Scott Dollemore; ‘Oploo’ with Joshua Hutchins followed by ‘MR CO-K Van Kattenheye Z’ with Megan Broadway. The winners of the second class were Spanish; ‘Cornet Sound’ with Javier González Fraga; ‘Com Cerena SB Z’ with Guillermo González Alonso and ‘Oswald B’ with Hugo Álvarez Amaro.
The five year old classes winners were; ‘Project EL’ with Spanish, Álvaro González de Zárate; ‘Quitalys RDB Z’ with Belgian, Cyril Cools, and third was ‘Ovunque Sei Di Ca’San Giorgio’ with Italian, Giammaria Gabriele Prete. The second class was won by ‘Noee’ with French rider, Valentin Pacaud, second was ‘El P’ with Portuguese rider, Hugo Tavares and third was Belgian pair, ‘Katapulte Riverland’ with Stephanie Servais.
These are the main results from a very intense day here at the Andalucía Sunshine Tour, sponsored by the Junta de Andalucía, through the Consejería de Turismo and Andalucía Exterior, and the Diputación Provincial de Cádiz. Competition continues tomorrow with 13 classes in this week’s CSI4*. The Young Horses will rest now until Tuesday when they will have their last chances to achieve enough clears to participate in next week’s Finals which will be held on Wednesday for the 5, 6 and 7yr olds and Thursday for the 8yr olds.
