Kendra Claricia Brinkop delivered an outstanding performance at Dehesa Montenmedio. The Stephex Stables rider claimed three victories, including the main class of the day, the 1.45m, confirming her excellent start to the season at the Andalucía Pre-Sunshine Tour.
Currently ranked 154th in the Longines FEI Rankings, Kendra Claricia Brinkop had already left her mark last year by winning the Grand Prix of the second week of the Pre-Tour. Now, at what is her first show of the season, she once again looks untouchable. On the second day of the CSI2* Andalucía Pre-Sunshine Tour, she secured three wins, clearly underlining her ambitions for the days ahead.
In the main class of the day, the 1.45m, she topped the leaderboard with Sniper des Lilas Blancs, a promising eight-year-old with whom she had finished second in the 1.35m class the previous day. With this son of Hamilton du Chapitre, Brinkop boasts remarkable figures: three wins and one second place in her last four starts, including the two victories achieved at the end of last year in Lier.
Following the German rider were Italy’s Emilio Bicocchi, who finished second with Hemerald d’Argone, and Ireland’s Jack Ryan, who took third place with DSH Lucky Junior. Spain’s Luis Ortiz Agüera also stood out, finishing fifth as he continues to fine-tune his partnership with Mr Quincy B, a highly experienced horse despite having only recently come under his saddle.
Brinkop’s second win of the day came in the 1.40m class, where she was the fastest of the 16 combinations that jumped clear in the Two-Phase. She did so with Eau de Vie Jeleena Dr Z, a daughter of Elvis Ter Putte. Portugal’s Hugo Tavares, one of the standout riders on the opening day, finished second with Nelleke H.
The 1.30m and 1.20m classes had a clear Portuguese flavour. In the former, Nuno Tiago Gomes took the win with Harmonie des Douces, a daughter of Kannan, while in the latter victory went to Cristiana Viegas with Luigi 7.
The class for 5-year-old horses, run under Table A without a jump-off, once again ended in a tie at the top of the leaderboard among the five horses that finished clear. Two of them were ridden by Pedro Mateos Bernáldez: Lavezzy du Ouchy, a son of By Cera D’Ick, and Dia Labetta PS, a daughter of Diablue PS.
The day concluded with the 7-year-old class, where Kendra Claricia Brinkop put the icing on the cake by winning with To Me-K van Kattenheye, a daughter of Van Gogh, with whom she had already won this same class on the opening day.
A great atmosphere and excellent sensations marked this second day of competition at Dehesa Montenmedio. The Andalucía Sunshine Tour is sponsored by the Regional Government of Andalusia, through the Ministry of Tourism and Andalusia Abroad, and by the Provincial Council of Cádiz — a partnership that reinforces the institutional commitment to promoting the region, supporting internationally projected events and developing initiatives with a strong economic, cultural and tourism impact in the province.
