Helmut Schönstetter wins the Small Grand Prix with ‘EIC Arwen’

Luca Moneta wins today’s Big class with ‘El Capote RK’

The German anthem rang out across the arenas at Montenmedio today with a victory in the Small Tour 1.40 GP, from Helmut Schönstetter and the eight year old mare ‘Eic Arwen’, who is by ‘Diamant de Semilly’, dam sire ‘Chacco-Blue’. This is the sixth victory here so far for this talented pair. The course today was demanding, with just six riders going through to the jump off and only Helmut coming in under 40s with this fantastically athletic mare.

 

In second place  was British rider,  Joshua Hutchins with ‘Kyrah’ (‘Zapatero VDL’ x ‘Zirocco Blue VDL’); third was Canadian rider, Tim Wilks with ‘Diamanthella VG Z’ (‘Diamant de Semilly’ x ‘Hickory Mail’). Fourth was Filippa Fant from Sweden, with ‘Lordana DC’ (‘Lordanos’ x ‘Lincolm L’). Equal fifth were two riders that both retired in the jump off;  Maksymilian Wechta from Poland with ‘Chepettano’ (‘Chepetto’ x ‘Calido I’) and Pilar Cordón Muro from Spain with ‘Noblesse Du Palis’ (‘Baltic VDL’ x ‘Indorado’).

 

Luca Moneta is on a roll, this Italian rider had a new win today in the 1.45 Big class with ‘El Capone RK’ (‘Cardento 933’ x ‘Julio Mariner’). Second was the Dutch rider who is also doing really well here, Mel Thijssen today riding, ‘Cartolana 2’. In third was another rider who has also had some great results here so far, Nicole Lockhead Anderson with ‘Vogue TW’. Stefano Nogara from Italy, was fourth with ‘ESI Everest’ and fifth was Spanish home rider, Armando Trapote Mariscal with ‘Espoir de Toxandria Z’.

 

Anouk De Ruijter from the Netherlands was the winner of the 1.35 class with ‘Jones’; second was James Wilson from Britain with ‘Jorisco’; third and fourth were the Spanish riders, Marta Garat Macías with ‘Julieta del Amor’ and Armando Trapote with ‘Matilda’ and finally, in fifth was Stefano Nogara with ‘Komet 306’.

 

Joshua Hutchins won the 1.20 with ‘Billy Sarafina’ and Spanish rider Alba Valle Espinedo took the top two places in the 1.10 with ‘Meriarta’ and 'Sam de Bacon’.

 

Stefano Nogara also had a solid win in the 6yr old class today, with ‘Sexy Girl Vant Gebergte’;  second was local Spanish rider, Jesús Torres García with ‘Emeralds F1’ and third was Portuguese rider, Hugo Tavares with ‘Nelleke H’.  

Cassandre Malherbe from Belgium, continues her super results in the 5yr olds, winning with, ‘Like A G6 MKM Z’ and  followed by the Greek rider, Danai Besdemioti-Avramidou who took both second and third places with ‘Call Me Beauty Cityhorse Z’ and  ‘Contendo’ respectively.

 

Competition continues tomorrow on the last day of the Andalucía Sunshine Pre-Tour which is kindly sponsored by the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the Government of Andalucía, through Tourism and Sports of Andalucía.  Tomorrow there are seven classes including the Grand Prix which is a FEI  Longines Ranking class.
