The First Grand Prix class was sponsored by Fairfax.
Vejer de la Frontera, 16th of febuary, 2019. The jump off in the Fairfax GP class today, was marked by some spectacular riding and brought this first week of jumping at Montenmedio to an exciting climax with a win from the British International rider, Jake Saywell. Riding “Havinia Van de Roshoeve”, this very fast combination clocked up an unbeatable jump off time of just 43.97s, a mere 0.22s faster than the American rider Catherine Pasmore who took second place on “Hiteck”. Third place was taken by another British rider Holly Smith with “Claddagh Iroko”.
The 1.40m class was against the clock (A) and was sponsored by “Wijlaars” who work with Geolastic and who were responsible for building the two new all-weather arenas (No:18 and 19). The founder-owner of Geolastic, Guillermo Gónzalez Eguinoa, gave us this quote: “This is the first time we have worked with the Sunshine Tour. We began construction of the arenas in September 2018 to ensure that the everything was ready and in perfect shape for the Tour and we are delighted with the results”.
The winner of this class was the Dutch rider Johnny Pals riding “Balou Z”in a very fast time of 57.39s. Spanish riders took second and third, Borja Bidón with “Quick de Glanville” in 58.70s and Alberto Márquez Galobardes with “Verdict de Kezeg” in 60.38s, respectively.
British and Dutch riders dominated the Medium and Small Tour classes. Johnny Pals had another win in the 1.35m, Medium Class; Jay Halim (GBR) was the winner of the 1.30m, Small Tour Class and another British rider Sofia Abramovich took first in the 1.25m.
Tomorrow the vet check will take place from 10.00 till 15:00, for next week’s CSI3* and CSIYH1*.
