The CSI3* ended today with the highlight class, the 1.50 Longines Ranking. From a 30 strong field, nine went through to contest what proved to be a very fast jump off, around the course built by Javier Trenor and his team. In the end Kendra Claricia Brinkop topped the podium in front of two of her compatriots, giving the Germans all top three places. Kendra was riding the very fast 11yr old ‘Enrico de la Pomme’ who is by ‘Vigo D Arsouilles STX’ x Ingma’, bred and owned by Geert Baertsoen. They stopped the clock in the jump off in 40.61s almost a second faster than Helmut Schönstetter who took second place in 41.44s with 11yr old mare, ‘Toulanda Delhi Assi’, with this being just one of the podium places today for this German rider.
In third place in this competitive class, was Jens Baackmann with the 10yr old Holsteiner ‘Lorenz 86’. Fourth and fifth were Spanish riders, Luis Ortiz Agüera with ‘Hvedholms Cashew’ and Armando with ‘Conthargo-Blue’ finishing off a great record of jumping over the two weeks here at the Andalucía Pre-Sunshine Tour.
The winner of the 1.35 today was Rogier Linssen with the very fast mare, ’Lyn’, who is by ‘Contender II’ and owned by Stal Linssen. This Dutch combination stopped the clock in this 2Ph Sp class in just 28.05s to take their top placing so far here at the Tour. In second place in 28.94s was British, Chloe Winchester with the mare ‘Korlenski’, by ‘Cornet Obolensky’. In third was Spanish rider, Maria Sainz de Rozas with ‘Coryphee des IFS’, fourth was Brazilian, Felipe Guinato with ‘Chiron RC’ and in fifth was the German, Vincent Elbers with ‘Graf de Maeza’.
The 1.30 was a 2Ph Sp and the winner was Helmut Schönstetter. In this class he took the top spot with the 7yr old ‘Cardi MT’ by ‘Conthargos’ x ‘Christian’, stopping the clock in 27.44s and then he went on to take third place as well, with the penultimate horse to jump, ‘EIC Castiglione’ in 28.52s. In second place was Swedish, Oscar Laurin with ‘Balou Blue’ by ‘Billy King’ x ‘Chacco Blue’, and owned by Stall Finnhult AB, stopping the clock in 27.61s. Kendra Claricia Brinkop was fourth with ‘Chattanooga Pomm’ and in fifth was Spanish rider, Marta Garat Macias with ‘Nasa del Amor’.
The 1.25 speed class was a showpiece for Spanish riders, Mario Peña Sanchez took first with ‘Roxette HT’ and also third, with ‘Kattegat HT’. In second was Noelia Bayarri Moore with ‘Louis’ and fourth was Lucas Hernandez Gonzalez with ‘Cincette PS’. In fifth was Victoria Sprigs with ‘Kaiser de Roulard’ from Malta.
The 1.15 class was an accumulator and the winner was Swedish, Sara Forslin with ‘Cidfire EN’ in 59.20s; hot on her heels was Spanish, Lucia Gamaza Mairana with ‘Galteemor Lucy’ in 59.22s. Third was British, Sophie Price with ‘FC Twente’; Fourth and fifth were Swiss riders, Ruedi Müller with ‘Cassidy L CH’ followed by Steffi Theiler with ‘Milos Z’.
In the Young Horse classes today 7yr olds was a 1.30, speed class and dominated by Helmut Schönstetter who took first, fourth and fifth places. Winning with the gelding, ‘De Luxe de Plaisir’ by ‘Diamant de Plaisir’ x ‘Contract’ and owned by MK Sportpferde he stopped the clock in 64.03s taking their top placing here at the Tour. Helmut was then fourth with ‘Marvin 72’ and fifth with ‘Chagrandina PS’.
In equal second place, both on 64.38s, were Spanish, Pedro Mateos Bernaldez with ‘Altamira de Casavieja’ a mare by ‘Argentinus’ and owned by Joaquin Cobo Parada and Kendra Claricia Brinkop with the stallion, ‘Sniper des las Lilas Blancs’ by ‘Hamilton’x ‘Calvaro Z’ and from the Stephex stables.
The 6yr old class was a 2Ph Sp set at 1.20. The winner was The Belgian rider, Cassandra Malherbe with the stallion, ‘Lou van het Eikenhof Z’ by ‘Luigi d’Eclipse’ x ‘Makomey’, in 26.43s, making that a total of three wins in this class over the two weeks. Felipe Ramos Guinato for Brazil was second in 26.47s, with another stallion, ’Othello P’ who is by the same sire, ‘Luigi d’Eclipse’ x ‘Canturano’, and also clocking up a total of three wins over the Tour. Clearly a breeding stallion to watch. In third was the British rider, Alfie Bradstock with ‘Balou’s Boy Terms G’ by ‘Balou du Rouet’ x ‘Guidam’; fourth was Spanish Pedro Mateos Bernaldez with ‘Quick Diamond’ and fifth was Henna Simojoki from Finland with ‘Vivificantem’.
This brings to a close the Andalucía Pre-Sunshine Tour, which is sponsored by the Andalucían Regional Ministry of Tourism and Foreign Affairs and the Provincial Council of Cadiz. Next week is change-over week, and many horses and riders will be arriving and settling in for the actual Andalucía Sunshine Tour; which starts up on the 4th of February with the Young Horse Classes and continues throughout the week with the CSI4* starting up on the 6th.
