Kevin González de Zárate wins the Ashford Farm Trophy with ‘London Times PS’

Martin Fuchs is second with Che Tipa’ and Kevin Jochems, third, with ‘Flying Jackie’

Spanish rider, Kevin González de Zárate, has been having an excellent tour so far, and already has a number of podium places under his belt; including winning the Medium Tour 1.45 class, last Thursday, with the same horse, the nine year old mare ‘London Times PS’.  Today this pair won the 1.50, Ashford Farm Trophy speed class. The mare is owned by ’Yeguada Valbanera and is by ‘Nabab de Reve’ out of a ‘Conthargos’ mare. Jumping on grass in the David Broome arena, the pair stopped the clock in .65.97 well ahead of Swiss, Martin Fuchs who took second place with ‘Che Tipa’ also a nine year old mare. Martin stopped the clock in 67.61s. The mare is owned by Willow Grace Farms and she is by ‘Casero della Caccia’, x ‘Ogano Sitte’. This well known rider is currently number two in the FEI, Longines Rankings and has already had two wins, and a second here at the Andalucía Sunshine Tour 2023.

 

In third was the Dutch rider Kevin Jochems with ‘Flying Jackie’, who is a 13yr old mare and is also by ‘Nabab de Reve’, from a mare by ‘Voltaire’. She is owned by  Stal Thijssen B.V. In fourth was German rider, Guido Klatte with ‘Qinghai’ (‘Quidam de Revel’ x ‘Cordalme’) and in fifth, was the Danish rider Martin Dinesen Neergaard (‘Favorit Ask’ x ‘Contendro I’). There were 89 horses in this class which was kindly sponsored by Ashford Farm.

The 1.45 Medium Tour class was on grass in the Hickstead arena and had more than 100 entries and so it was split into two sections.  Dermott Lennon, Ireland, had the fastest time of the day, 63.02s, and was one of our winners. He was riding  ‘All Pleasure Hero II Z’, (‘Aganix du Seigneur’). Danish rider, Tina Lund took the other top spot with ‘Centina 10’ (‘Dobel’s Cento’ x ‘Argentinus’).  Belgian rider, Dries Dekkers with ‘Chattanooga S.H.’ took one of the second placings alongside the Bulgarian rider  Konstantin E. Van Damme with ‘Hanne Umonia’. Third placings went to another Belgian, Gilles Thomas with ‘J. Comghorla Van Beek’ and the Swedish rider, Jacob Hellström with ‘Chuck Bass’.

 

In the 1.35, Big Tour there were also two sets of results. British Skye Higgin stormed round in just 65.92s with ‘Gotcha’ and Belgian rider, Aiko Paridaen took the other winning spot in 67.87s with ‘Libelle de Muze’.  In the 1.30 There was a French win for  Olivier Perreau with ‘GL Events Faustine Sauvage’.

 

The Medium Tour 1.40 was also split, the winners were; the Italian rider, Luca Moneta with ‘El Capone RK’ and Spanish rider, Jorge Bidón Daurella with ‘Donatella Du Landel’. In the 1.35 there was a Moroccan win for Farid Amanzar with ‘Julio Van De Veldbalie’.

 

The young horse classes today had a win from the Irish rider, Jeremy Sweetnam with ‘Chuflay’ in the 8yr old class.  In the two 7yr old classes, there was a British win from Laura Jackson with ‘Casanta’ and for Dutch rider, Aniek Diks, who had the fastest time of the day, with ‘Quintreau Van’t Hoogeinde’.

Niamh Mcevoy was the winner of the first 6yr old class, with ‘BP Tidy Dancer’ and for the third day in a row, local Spanish rider, Carlos Bosch Cebrián won the other section with ‘Mega Coupe’.

In the 5yr old class, Danish rider Rikke Haastrup was one of our winners with ‘Dyhres DJ Lykke’ and Czech rider,  Jaroslav Sima with ‘Senorita JB’ won the other section.

 

Competition continues tomorrow with nine CSI4* classes, including two Ranking classes and three CSI1* classes. There will also be a young horse 8yr old class.
