Konstantin Van Damme with ‘Charly Brown G’ and Jacob Hellström with ‘Charles’ are the 7yr old winner

More than 250 young horses take to the arenas this penultimate week of the Andalucía Sunshine Tour 2023

Today was a day for the ‘Charles’, with the Bulgarian rider, Konstantin Van Damme winning the first 7yr old class with ‘Charly Brown G’, and the Swedish rider, Jacob Hellström winning the second class with ‘Charles’! It was a super day of jumping here at the very sunny Andalucía Sunshine Tour 2023, which is sponsored by the ‘Consejería de Turismo, Cultura y Deporte’ and co-financed by the European Union.

Konstantin’s ride, ’Charly Brown G’, is a gelding by ‘Congress 4’, dam sire ‘Quidam’s Rubin’, owned by Ranier Höchsmann and has jumped 10 clears from his 12 outings here so far, not only that, he had outstanding results last week with one top spot and two second places, so starting off with a win is a brilliant start to the week. Both 7yr old classes were 2PhSp, held on grass in the 9 Guaraná Champeix arena and set at 1.30. Our winners were the only pair to stop the clock in under 30 seconds, but oming in second with beautiful round was the Canadian rider Kara Chad with ‘Gability Van de Eijkhof Z’ and in third was the very successful British rider, Nicole Lockhead Anderson with ‘Conthargo PS’.

The other 7yr old class was won by Jacob Hellström and ‘Charles’ who is by ‘Conthinder’ and owned by Sara Molvidson-Hellström. This gelding has jumped clear 11 of 14 rounds here with two past second places and another win under his belt. He was the fastest of the 60 participants, completing in just 28.90s. Second and also under the 30s mark, was Spanish rider, Hugo Álvarez Amaro with ‘Casaspezia’ and French rider, Emeric George was third with ‘Gloria Mercoeur’.

The 1.15, 6yr old class was also on grass in the Arrayán arena. The winner of the first class was Irish Shane O’Reilly with ‘BWE Vain Hero’, Spanish rider, Francisco Asís Arango Lasaosa was second with ‘Moesman de Lis Es’ and German rider, Manuel Feldmann with ‘Valdina van de Fruitkorf Z was third’.

In the second class, Emma Stoker from Britain, was once again top of the podium, this time with her own mare, ’Priskada’. After that two Irish riders took the next spots;  Kevin Gallagher and ‘BP Goodfellas’ in second and Lisa María Leonard with ‘MSH Belladonna’ in third.

There were 53 clears from 83 participants in the FnoT, 5yr old classes.

Tomorrow the three young horse classes (5, 6 and 7) continue in this new CSIYH* with 257 horses entered.
