Last to go and El Ghali Boukaa wins the Longines Ranking class, with ‘A Kyss’

Last to go, the fast Moroccan rider, El Ghali Boukaa with the 13yr old, bay mare, ‘A Kyss’, by ‘Diamant de Semilly’ x ‘Cabdula du Rillard’, owned by Karim Tazi, won the first Longines Ranking class this week here at the XXIX Andalucía Sunshine Tour, sponsored kindly by ‘la Consejería de Turismo, Cultura y Deporte’ and co-financed by the European Union.
This combination went into the arena ready for action and flew around the course, knocking the two grey mares that, up to that point were in equal first, off of the top of the podium; and they did it in great style in just 65.57s.
This meant that Belgian, Cyril Cools with ‘Cloe GP Z’ (‘Corrdino’ x ‘Takashi van Berkenbroek’), owned by the Heritage Stud Ltd, and German, Kendra Claricia Brinkop with ‘Ma Belle’ (‘Ugano Sitte’ x ‘Bayard d’Elle’), owned by Stephex Stables, had to share second place on the podium, as they both had the time of 65.75s for their rounds.
Fourth place went to the British rider, Carmen Edwards with ‘Happy Valerie’ and fifth place to Canadian rider, Rebecca McGoldrick with ‘Happiness’.
Top American rider, Julie Welles, was the winner of the 1.40, Coca-Cola Trophy today with the 11yr old, ’Haley’. This mare is by ‘Quality Time TN’ x ‘Manhattan’, she is the property of Alan Waldman. Just behind Julie, was the Irish rider, Jonathan Smyth with ‘Mulvin Lights Out’ and in third was the Spanish rider, Ibone Ibáñez Aldecoa with ‘Bambino D’Assemont’. These were the only three riders clear in under 64s in a class of over 70 horses.
William Walker (GBR) was fourth with ‘Ustino’ and another Irish rider, Jason Foley was fifth with ‘Lady Angeles’.
Marnie Darcy Green was our British winner in the 1.35, with ‘Ice Cold Z’. In second was the Spanish rider, Elena Appendino with ‘Billyjean’. Third was French rider, Valentin Besnard with ‘GFE Exocet du Houssoit’; fourth and fifth were Spanish riders, Nicolás Bidón Daurella with ‘Cuantas de Torres’ and Luis Ortiz Agüera with ‘Easo J.’
The 1.30 had a top two British riders, Emma Stoker with ‘Q Seven’ and Ellen Whitaker with ‘Righteous’. In third was the German rider Theresa Heger with ‘Can Caipina’.
The win in the 1.20 was also from a British rider, Lee Middleton with ‘Janout’ who finished well over three seconds ahead of Belgian rider, Eva Jennen with ‘Ilona V/D Fruitkorf’. Lee’s times was 60.19s and Eva’s 63.89s! In third was German rider, Theresa Heger with ‘Lyzz the Awesome’.
British domination continued in the .1.10, Samantha Cowell was first with ‘Harthill Louisa’; Megan Broadway second with ‘Stella Butterfly Z’ and Daniella Stapleton third with ‘Classic Touch V’.
Kendra Brinkop and ‘Oak Grove’s Heartthrob’, were first in the seven year old class, adding this victory to their three 2nd places so far. This lovely stallion is by ‘Heartbreaker’ x ‘Artos Z’ and is owned by Stephex Stables. The French rider, Alix Ragot was second with ‘Gold Sky de Pegase’ and third was Italian rider, Luca Moneta with ‘Guchi Montdesir’.
Emma Stoker was also the winner of the 6yr old class with ‘Comme Ci Comme Ca’, and added a third position to her tally today with ‘Priskada’. In second place was Brazilian rider Katty King with ‘Ronermus van het Weywnshof’.
Czech riders took first and second places in the 6yr old class, Jaroslav Sima was the winner with ‘Sashimi JB’, followed by Dusan Simovski with ‘Dickens LB’. In third was Jude Burgess (GBR) with ‘Balou’s Song’.
There are nine classes tomorrow, six are CSI2* ranging from 1.45 to 1.10 meters and the rest are the CSIYH* (5, 6 & 7).
