Niamh McEvoy does it again! Rocketing to victory in the 1.45 Longines Ranking class with ‘DHF Lift O

British, Alena Hughes shows off her strengths today, winning both the 1.40 with ‘Hercules’ with over a second in hand and also, the 1.35 with ‘Grannuschka’

It really doesn’t matter what horse Irish Niamh McEvoy seems to sit on she’s always up there on the podium!! Today, riding ‘DHF Lift Off’ she literally ‘rocketed’ around the Longines 1.45 ranking class and stopped the clock in just 63.54s. ‘DHF Lift Off’ is by ‘Harlequinn Du Carel’ dam sire, Mr Clover,  and was here back in the spring with Kevin Gallagher. Clearly Niamh has really clicked with this super mare as no-one really challenged her lead. Second and third places were taken by Mexican riders Carlos Hank Guerreiro with the ‘Chacco Blue’ gelding H5 ‘Chacco-San’ in 65.83s and Enrique Gonzalez with another H5 horse, ‘Kontender VDM’ by ‘Eldorado’ in 66.14s.  Fourth was Irish legend Cian O’Connor with ‘Fancy de Kergane’; fifth Argentinian, Matias Larocca with ‘Millar van de Faunushoeve’ and sixth, Dutch rider, Skye Morssinkhof with ‘Baloubelle 5’.

The fast British rider, Alena Hughes was the winner of both the 1.40 and the 1.35 classes today. The 1.40 was a jump off class held in the Milton arena. In this class she was riding ‘Hercules’ who is by ‘Clinton’ .They stopped the clock in just 32.45s in a demanding jump off of 15 competitors. Second place went to Argentinian rider, Matias Larocca with ‘RR Carcom’ in 33.60s and third was Spanish rider, Beatriz de Llanza Daurella and ‘Iorio’ in 34.14s.

The 1.35, 2PhSp class in the Hickstead arena, was a really competitive class with Alena once again top of the podium and completing a superb round in a winning time of just 30.73s on the extremely fast mare, ‘Grannuschka’ who is by ‘Con Chello’. Second, in 33.08s, was successful Belgian rider, Emilie Conter with ‘Ocean Quality’ from the Stephex stables. In third was Italian rider, Marco Carli with ‘H5 Hard to Get’ in 33.17s.

There was a Dutch win in the 1.30 class today for Liv Linssen on ‘Cini W Z’; second was British top rider, Eleanor Hall Mcateer with ‘Justus di Ca’san Giorgio’ and in third was Matias Larocca with ‘Con Corrado 4’.

A British win in the 1.20 today from Ella Dalton and ‘Orya van Koekenhuyze’ who were second in this class yesterday. Second was Spanish, Elena Vazquez Arrojo with ‘Enzokranich’ and third, another British rider, Claudia Rothermere with ‘Caroezo P&S Z’.

The 1.10 class had three British riders in the top four places. The winner was Lola Luchford with ‘Izar LB’ upping her third place from yesterday. Second was Eleanor Harmsworth with ‘Fabienne’ and in fourth was Emily Wray with 'Jewel O’.  In third, with another podium result this week, was successful Dutch rider, Junyfer Prenger with ‘Jonker van de Donkhoeve’.

The 5yr old class was on grass in the Hickstead arena. Once again Dutch, Philippe Houtakers won the class with ‘Sagan V’ by ‘Nixon Van’t Meulenhof’.
