Nicole Lockhead Anderson wins the Pavo Trophy with ‘I Am A Harley’

Mel Thijssen and ‘Florida Balia NL’ are second; with Jerome Guery and ‘Come Away Flamingo Z’ completing the podium

British rider Nicole Lockhead Anderson is on a winning streak, after being top of the podium yesterday in the eight year old class, and third in that same class today with ‘Mecoblue PS’. Today she flew around the CSI4*, 1.50m Pavo Trophy speed class to win in fine style in the main grass arena; David Broome. This was the first time the arena has been used so far in this 30th edition of the XXX Andalucía Sunshine Tour, which is sponsored by the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the Government of Andalucía, through Tourism and Sports of Andalucía.

 

With 63 competitors to beat, she stopped the clock in 56.56s with the lovely 10yr old stallion, ‘I Am a Harley’, by ‘Harley’ x ‘Otangelo’ owned by Emily Sage. Just behind in 57.80s was Dutch rider, Mel Thijssen with ‘Florida Balia NL’ (‘Bustique’ x ‘Lux Z’); and in third was recently arrived, Jerome Guery , from Belgium, with ‘Come Away Flamingo Z’ (‘Cardento 933’ x ‘Dollar du Murier’). Fourth was Columbian, Rene López Lizarazo with ‘Driss de Kerglenn’ (‘Mylord Carthago*HN’ x ‘CAP Kennedy*Bois Margot’) and fifth, Italian, Ludovica Minoli with ‘Jus de Krack’ (‘Unaniem’ x ‘Querlybet Hero’). The class was sponsored by Pavo, who specialise in equine nutrition.

 

The Medium Tour 1.45 class had over 100 entries and the placings were doubled; winners were Italian, Luca Moneta with ‘El Capone RK’ who had the fastest clear in 60.50s and Turkish, Derin Demirsoy with ‘Elzas’ in 61.61s. Second places were taken by Moroccan rider, El Ghali Boukaa with ‘Ugolino Du Clos’ and Swedish rider, Linda Heed with ‘Laurien Van Orshof’; whilst another Swedish rider took one of the third places, Petronella Andersson with ‘Ollister Du Lys’ and American rider, Michael Hughes with ‘Connan Van Koningspolder Z’ took the other.

 

The Medium Tour 1.40, was also doubled up with 119 entires. The winners were; Italian, Paolo Paini with ‘Japonica Di Ca’San Giorno’ and British rider, Olivia Sponer who had the fastest clear with ‘Crazy Girl’. British, Sameh El Dahan was second with ‘Kandice Z’ alongside Dutch, Anouk De Ruijter with ‘Jones’; and finally, sharing third place were Javier González Fraga from Spain with ‘Sonic JGF’ and another Dutch rider, Michael Greeve with ‘La Vie Este Belle TCS’.

 

In the Big Tour 1.35 the winner was Belgian, Ignace Philips de Vuyst with ‘Quiktime Z’;  followed by Kevin González de Zárate, Spain, riding ‘Loek’ and once again Luca Moneta with ‘Chilli 41’ taking third.

 

El Ghali Boukaa was again at the top of the podium in the Big Tour 1.30, winning the class, with ‘Gabbana de Lessac’;  second and third were Belgian riders, Jos Verlooy with ‘Panache V/D Wateringhoeve’  and  Dimme D’Haese with ‘Etikarta V Z.

 

The Medium Tour 1.30 was a very competitive class and again had over 100 entries. The fastest clear of the day was from Moroccan, Farid Amanzar with ‘Churchill Z’ passing the post in just 53.84s and no-one else really came close. The other winner was Irish, Shane Dwan with ‘Cascalino 7’stopping the clock in 57.18s. Second places were taken by Australian, Chris Burton with ‘Carly 14’ and Belgian, Lieven Devos con ‘Eldorrado MVNZ’ and finally, third places were taken by, New Zealand rider, Clarke Johnstone with ‘Menlo Park’ and Italian,  Stefano Nogara with ‘Komet 306’.

 

The Young Horse classes were run alongside the CSI4* today. In the 8yr old class our winner was Belgian, Gilles Thomas with the mare, ‘Lavanoche T&L Z’, who is by ‘Lavallino Ter Klomp’ x ‘Bentley Van de Heffinck’. In second was German, Kendra Claricia Brinkop with ‘Quercus Van Den Oude EIK’ and in third was our Pavo Trophy winner,  Nicole Anderson Lockhead with yesterdays 8yr old  winner, ’Mecoblue PS’.

 

There were two 7yr old classes and our winners were, French, Alix Ragot riding ‘Serafina DBH Z’ and Ignace Philips de Vuyst once again on today’s podium this time with  ‘Mirafiori Di Ca’ San Giorgio’.  Winners in the 7yr olds were Irish Shane Dwan with ‘California 159’ and French,  Gaspard Maksud with ‘IHaveadream Deluca’. In the 5yr olds, the winners were Belgian, Thibault Vermuelun with ‘K Olympiz Z’ and British, Jude Burgess con ‘Ophelia’.
