and the 1.35 with ‘Bastille’

Martin Fuchs is lining up the wins in the top classes here at the Andalucía Pre Sunshine Tour, which is sponsored by the Consejería de Turismo, Cultura y Deporte y and cofunded by the European Union.

For the second day in a row, Martin won the two top classes, the biggest being the 1.40 with ‘Zaffiro Blu di Franciacorta’. This Swiss rider is currently Ranked number two in the world and watching him, it is easy to see why he holds this place. He rode yet another textbook first round and a very neat jump off, on ‘Zaffiro Blu di Franciacorta’, who is by ‘London Eurocommerce’ x ‘Tygo’ and Martin was the only rider stopping the clock in under 32 seconds, 31.55 seconds.

Martin was here at the Tour for the first time last year, today he told us that he found it was the ideal place to bring his young horses to gain some experience;  ‘so I came back with more horses, this year’.

Martin especially values; ‘ all the different rings, the new stabling, near the turn out paddocks and the new grass ring to exercise in’. He is hoping; ‘to build up the younger and new horses, that are nine year olds, I am keen see how far they will go’.

‘I am very excited about 4 of these, very nice nine yr olds and plan to build them up here for the higher level, so that they are ready to compete at 5* level by the end our time here’.  Martin is staying here for 6 weeks and also told us he has his top horse here, ‘Commissar Pezi ’ who he is building up for the Nations Cup season.

Irish rider, Jeremy Sweetnam also had a great day today and took a smart second place in the 1.40 class, riding ‘Chuflay’ in 32.16 seconds.  Hot on his heels, in third, was Matthew Sampson (GBR) with ‘MGH Candy Girl’;  fourth was the French rider Yann Chartier Capitaine with ‘Lorenz 86’ and fifth Israeli rider Leigh Ofer with ‘Carambola’.

Earlier in the Day Martin was the winner of the 1.35 with the mare ‘Bastille’, who has excellent bloodlines,  ‘Balou du Rouet’ x ‘Chacco Blue’. Not content with that he was also fourth with ‘Pina Van de Moerhoeve’.

Second in this class was the current ‘Absolute Spanish Champion’, Armando Trapote Mariscal with ‘Diabla PS’ (‘Chacco Lover’ x ‘Toulon’); third was Jeremy Sweetnam once again on top form with ‘Come to me’ and fifth, was another local Spanish rider, Alejandro Fernández with ‘Kadermie Van de Crumelhaeve’.

Hungarian rider Rodrigo Szuhai was once again the winner of the 1.20 with ‘Carta Blue SZ’ and another Hungarian,  Blanka Kelemen with ‘Chacco SZ’ was the winner of the 1.10.

The 7yr old class was won by Spanish rider, Sergio Álvarez Moya with ‘Kannan S Touch PS’. Armando Trapote was second with ‘Cinsey EK’. In third was the rider from Monaco who was also fourth in this class yesterday,  Anastasia Nielsen with the consistently performing  ‘Chacoothargos PS’ completed the positions of podium.

Another Hungarian rider, this time, Gyula Szuhai Jr. was the winner of the 6yr old class with ‘Cornet’s Blue SZ’, who also won on the 19th.  Antonia Andersson, the Swedish rider who bases herself here at Montenmedio through the winter, was second with the lovely  ‘Zoe Heart’ and the Spanish rider Francisco Asis Arango Lasaosa was third with  ‘Moesman de Lis ES’.

Today Erika Hanhisuanto, from Finland, was the winner of the 5yr old class with ‘Ascalina D’Ive Z’ who has been jumping really well this week and also came second yesterday.
