Top Brazilian rider Pedro Veniss with the 11yr old stallion, ‘Kannans Breaker BR’, by ‘Kannan’ x ‘Heartsbreaker’ had his second win here at the Andalucía Sunshine Tour, with the fastest round in today’s 1.50, Celeste Trophy which was held in the Milton arena. In a time of 63.12s he was two and a half seconds faster than Spanish competitor who took second, Kevin González de Zárate with the mare, also from ‘Kannan’, ‘Cantuccini 17’ who is owned by Yeguada Valbanera. Third was the Irish rider, Jessica Burke with ‘Good Star du Bary’ and fourth was top French rider, Penelope Leprevost with ‘Djagger Semilly’. In fifth was Spanish rider, Carlos Bosch Cebrián with ‘Jolie van der Berghoeve’. The class was kindly sponsored by Celeste, one of the products from the well known Pago del Cielo, a viticulture project from the Bodegas Torre.
Jason Foley and the ‘The Wayfarer’ (‘Garryduff Jar of Hearts’ x ‘Taloubet Z’) were top of the podium for Ireland today in the 1.35, Big Tour class. British rider Donald Whitaker and ‘Partner in Crime’ were second and Irish rider, Seamus Hughes Kennedy with ‘Castlefield Hera’ were third.
There was a British win in the 1.45 Medium Tour, from the very fast pair, Sophie Evans and ‘CSIO Bel’ (‘Tinka’s Boy’ x ‘Gonfaron’). Second was Italian, Luca Moneta with ‘El Capone RK’ and third was French rider, Marie Demonte with ‘Give Me One Reason DK’.
In the 1.40 there was a Portuguese winner, Rodrigo Giesteira Almeida with ‘Comme Le Coeur’ (‘Comme Il Faut 5’ x Heartbreaker’) ahead of British rider Chloe Aston with ‘Flavie van de Helle’ and the Bulgarian, Konstantin E. Van Damme took third with ‘Charly Brown G’.
The winner of the 1.30 was also from Portugal, Rafael Dinis Rocha with ‘Casalita’ (‘Casallco’ x ‘Cassini II’); whilst the next two podium places were taken by British riders, Red Morgan with ‘True Blue III’ and Ruby Barrs with ‘Melrida’.
The Young Horse classes: The 7yr olds was won by ‘HH Atlanta de Arezzo’ with the Spanish rider Jesús Garmendia Echevarría; the 6yr olds was won by ‘Juno de Llamosas’ with another Spanish rider, Hugo Álvarez Amaro and the 5yr olds was won by ‘Uranda J&L’ with the British rider, Daley Fisher.
The international 3* dressage started up today here at Montenmedio and counts on the participation of two Olympians.
With a Spanish top two, José Antonio García Mena was the winner of the GP riding the Lusitano, ’Gladiador do Lis’, second was the double olympic medalist, Beatriz Ferrer-Salat, with ‘Elegance’, and third was the Portuguese rider, Rita Ralao with ‘Irao’.
Competition continues here tomorrow at the Andalucía Sunshine Tour, which is kindly sponsored by the Junta de Andalucía, through the Consejería de Turismo and Andalucía Exterior, and by the Diputación provincial de Cádiz. Tomorrow there will be fourteen jumping classes, including the 8yr old jumping Final and a Longines Ranking class and also twelve dressage classes, including a GP Special, a 16-25 yr old GP and the 4yr old Final.
