Presentation of the XXXII Andalucía Sunshine Tour 2026 with many new features

Vejer, January 14th, 2026.

The countdown has begun. The Andalucía Sunshine Tour returns tomorrow with an edition full of attractions, major new features and a top-level sporting programme that will once again place Dehesa Montenmedio at the very centre of the international equestrian scene. This edition was presented to the media this morning in one of the halls of the Cádiz Provincial Council.

For nine weeks, until March 22nd, the dean of Spanish circuits — with more than 30 years of history — will become the main meeting point for the world of showjumping. More than 1,200 riders from 50 countries and around 3,600 horses are expected to take part, figures that confirm the excellent health of a circuit that continues to grow year after year.

The sporting programme is once again one of its strongest hallmarks: 700 classes and 2.5 million euros in prize money, hosted in facilities that continue to improve in order to offer maximum comfort for both riders and horses.

As usual, the circuit will kick off with the Andalucía Pre-Sunshine Tour, with two weeks of competition beforehand: a first CSI2* week and a second CSI3* week, running from January 15th to 25th, serving as a warm-up for the XXXII Andalucía Sunshine Tour, which will take place over seven weeks, from February 3rd to March 22nd. Of these, six will be four-star weeks and one will be two-star, creating a programme open to riders of all levels.

The 2026 edition also arrives with a major novelty: two “Invitational” Grand Prix, to be held in the third and seventh weeks, adding extra appeal to the competition calendar. The traditional young horse classes will of course also be present, with finals in the third and seventh weeks, as well as the Children, Juniors and Young Riders CSIO, which will take place from March 12th to 15th during the sixth week. This youth CSIO is the only one held in Spain and will serve both as preparation for the European Championships and as a qualifier for them.

The international weight of the circuit is also reflected in the number of FEI Longines Ranking classes, with five during the Pre-Sunshine Tour and 36 during the Andalucía Sunshine Tour.

Another major attraction of this edition will be the prestigious line-up of course designers, featuring some of the most prominent names on the international circuit. Among them are Germany’s Frank Rothenberger, course designer of the upcoming World Championships, along with Grégory Bodo, Leopoldo Palacios, Uliano Vezzani and Louis Konickx, guaranteeing courses of the highest technical and sporting level.

International Dressage will also once again have its place in the programme, from March 17th to 22nd, coinciding with the final week of the circuit and further strengthening the multidisciplinary character of the event.

The oldest circuit held in Spanish territory was presented today to the media at an event held at the Cádiz Provincial Council.

Those speaking at the presentation were the President of the Cádiz Provincial Council, Mrs Almudena Martínez del Junco; the First Vice President of the Council and Head of the Area of Economy, Finance and Administrative Management, Mr Juancho Ortiz Quevedo; the Government Delegate of the Andalusian Regional Government in Cádiz, Mrs Mercedes Colombo Ronquette; the General Director of the Andalucía Sunshine Tour, Mrs Teresa Blázquez Abascal; and the General Secretary of the Andalusian Equestrian Federation, Mrs Pilar Vázquez Jiménez.

The event, which began at 12:00 noon, highlighted the economic impact generated by the circuit in the province, as well as presenting the new features of the edition that starts tomorrow and detailing its sporting programme.

During her speech, the event director Teresa Blázquez stressed that “Montenmedio is an ideal venue to prepare the season, both because of the variety of its facilities and the sporting programme of the circuit”, and concluded by inviting all equestrian fans to come and enjoy the competition.

“We have magnificent facilities, very spacious and with many options to enjoy this sport. There are classes at all levels, even pony classes for the youngest riders. In addition, we have several restaurants and cafés, a shopping area, large parking areas and an exceptional natural environment. It is a small city dedicated to the horse, to which you are all invited and where you can enjoy a fantastic family day out,” said Teresa.

In addition to the figures already mentioned, the XXXII Andalucía Sunshine Tour is expected to create around 250 direct jobs, some 1,200 indirect jobs, generate an economic impact of around 60 million euros in the province in the hospitality and tourism sectors, and provide international promotion for the province to the millions of spectators that the organisation expects to follow this 32nd edition (last year’s audience is estimated at 71 million viewers). This competition is an “open window” to show the province to the world and to show “the best we have to offer abroad”, in the words of the President of the Provincial Council, Almudena Martínez.

“It is a privilege” to host in the province “this exceptional, high-quality event; the dean of equestrian competitions in Spain”, she recalled, and that “in addition to an intense sporting programme, it provides a boost both to tourism and to the economy of La Janda and the province”, she stressed.

Finally, we would like to thank our main sponsors: the Regional Government of Andalusia through the Ministry of Tourism and Andalusia Exterior, and the Cádiz Provincial Council.
