Richard Howley and ‘Mansini LTD’, untouchable in the Barceló Conil Playa Trophy class

Tomorrow the qualifiers for the Spanish National Pony championships begin with 29 participants

The 1.50m, Barceló Conil Playa Trophy had so many entries today, 115 in all;  that the results were spilt, and the top two winning places were taken by two top Irish riders!! The fastest round of the day by far and, early on in this speed class, was from recently arrived Richard Howley who flew around the class on the 14yr old  ‘Mansini LTD’, who is by ‘Caressini L’ x ‘Marramas’ and owned by Lennart Lindelöw. Their time was impossible to beat as the pair stopped the clock in 56.31s in the large grass, Davis Broome arena. But our other winner, Commandant Geoff Curran, stopped the clock in 59.55s with ‘HHS Clinstown’ with another fast round.

 

In the two  second places were the Turkish rider, Derin Demirsoy, who wasn’t far behind in 59.82s on‘Caprice D’Elle’ and the French rider, Alexa Ferrer with ‘Helium D.S.’ In third were the Portuguese rider, Duarte Seabra with ‘HHS Washington’ and another French rider, Margaux Rocuet with ‘Iliade KDW Z’.

 

The Big Tour 1.35, was won by British, James Smith with ‘Juno Rose 23’, who was four seconds in front of anyone else in the class. He was followed by two Spanish riders; Álvaro Castro Román with ‘Princesa des Fabries’ and Iván Serrano Sáez with ‘Camper Eurogaza Chacco 39’.

 

Another British rider topped the podium, Nicole Lockhead Anderson with ‘Emerald Irish Cruise’ in the Medium Tour 1.45. Second was the Spanish rider, Carolina Villanueva with ‘Voice de Chenaie’ and two Irish riders took third and fourth, Jonathan Smyth with ‘Mulvin Lights Out’ and Dermott Lennon with’ Anthem in my Heart’.

 

The 1.40, also had double prizes with 124 entries. First and fastest was the American rider, Julie Welles with ‘Greatfull’ and the British rider William Walker took the other top spot, with ‘Ustino’; second were Spanish rider, Borja Bidón Daurella with ‘Coach Cornet Z’ and once again, James Smith with ‘Good Friend’. In third, were Irish Kevin Gallagher with ‘Hybernia’ and the Italian,  Luca Moneta with ‘El Capone RK’.

 

Emma Stoker continues her amazing record here at the tour;  today with ‘Q Seven’ she won the 1.30 class. Spanish rider, Mariano Martínez Bastida was second with ‘Falbala Pironniere’ and the Belgian rider, Anke de Breucker with ‘Noesje van d’Abelendreef’ was third

 

The eight year old class top three were James Smith with ‘Diandra’; Spanish rider,  Eduardo Álvarez Aznar with ‘Cognac EB’ and the Swedish rider, Alexander Zetterman with ‘Amour SA’. Eduardo also took fourth place with ‘DPS Camelot’.

 

In the 7yr olds the Spanish rider, Kevin González de Zárate took the top two spots with ‘Mesala del Amor’ and ‘Corinna’ in the first class. Belgian rider Kevin Gielen was the winner of the second class with ‘Luna van de Zeilhoek’.

In the 6yr old classes the winners were Dutch rider, Bart Haselbekke with ‘Millstreet van de Kruishorst’ and British, Elizabeth Baker with ‘Miss Alanda K’. 

In the 5yr old classes the winners were British riders, Jude Burgess with ‘A Magic Mike Z’ and Ronnie Jones with ‘Skylla’s Little Stevie’.

Tomorrow we continue here at the Andalucía Sunshine Tour 2023, which is sponsored by ‘la Consejería de Turismo, Cultura y Deporte’ and co-financed by the European Union. There will be 13 classes in the CSI4*, CSI1* and the 8yr olds. There is a Ranking class, the Andalucía Trophy class, a qualifier for the Sunday Grand Prix class and prizes will be handed out to the winners by the councillor of ‘Turismo, Cultura y Deporte de la Junta de Andalucía’, (tourism, culture and sport from the regional Andalucían government),  Arturo Bernal.

 

Tomorrow we also will be hosting the ‘Concurso Nacional de Ponis’ one of the qualifiers for the Spanish National Pony Championships, with 29 participants. This event  will continue until Sunday.
