Rodrigo Giesteira Almeida and ‘Karonia L’ winners of the La Equina Small Grand Prix for Portugal

Second was the Swiss rider, Anthony Bourquard with ‘Festival Semilly’ and third, Marie Demonte for France, with ‘Forban De Beliard’

One hundred riders took to the ring for the Small Grand Prix today which was sponsored by the Hospital de Referencia La Equina and held in the grass, David Broome arena here at Montenmedio. There were 19 clears in this 1.45 Longines Ranking class and the jump off was extremely competitive. The winner was the Portuguese rider, Rodrigo Giesteira Almeida with the ten year old, grey mare ’Karonia. L’, who is by ‘Harley’ x ‘G-Ramiro Z’. The pair stopped the clock in 41.10s. In second place was the Swiss rider, Anthony Bourquard in 42.71s with ‘Festival Semilly’ (‘Tornesch’ x ‘Orame’) and in third was the french rider, Marie Demonte with ‘Forban de Beliard’ (‘Upsilon’ x ‘Diamant de Semilly’). Fourth was Brazilian rider Camila Mazza de Benedicto with ‘Barbarossa Dree Boeken’ (‘Vagabond de la Pomme’ x ‘Goldfever’) and in fifth was British rider, Graham Gillespie with ‘Veneno’ (‘Chacco-Blue’ x ‘Baloubet du Rouet’).

 

Spanish rider, Álvaro González de Zárate and the 12yr old, ’Casper de Luxe’, who is by ‘Casseus’ were the winners of the biggest class today, the Medium Tour at 1.50l with the fastest clear in this 2PhSp, in just 34.33s. In second place in 36.58s, was Marie Demonte, her second top placing today, this time she was riding ‘Give Me One Reason DK’. Third in 36.85s, was Dutch rider, Finn Boerekamp who is no stranger to top places, this time riding ‘Just Penelope JW van de Moerhoeve’.

 

There was a British top two in the Medium Tour 1.40, with Chloe Winchester and ‘Korlenski’ (‘Cornet Obolensky’ x ‘Mozart des Hayettes’) winning the class, followed by Joe Fernyhough and ‘Calcourt Supersonic’ in second. Third was Argentinian rider, Martin Dopazo with ‘Carlina Z’.

 

The Big Tour 1.35 was won by Swedish rider Jacob Hellström with ‘Pronto Van de Maltahoeve’; British rider, Matthew Sampson was second with ‘Billy Outspoken’ and Spanish, Pilar Cordón Muro was third with ‘Machiavelli B’.

 

The Medium Tour 1.30 also had a British winner,, Emily Ward with ‘Millfield Lottery’ in 56.27s, three seconds in front of the Hungarian rider, Laszlo Toth with ‘Ching’. In third was another British rider Robert Bevis with ‘Compton Park’.

 

There was also a British win in the Medium Tour 1.20, from Oliver Tuff and ‘Viola’ in 62.81s, which was four seconds faster than Swiss rider, Valentine Petit-Jean who was second with ‘Jupiter’. In third was German rider, Jil Broockmann with ‘Larimo 5’. 

 

There was a win for Spain from José Fumero Hernández in the Small Tour, 1.45 with ‘Figuier du Roc’. In second was Irish, Adam Morgan with ‘Joplin’ and in third was British rider, Ben Walker with ‘Creevy Pacino Cruise’.

 

Anouk de Ruijter from the Netherlands and ‘Moviestar’ were the winners of the 1.35, just ahead of Swedish rider, Sara Molvidson-Hellström with ‘Caroline’. In third was the Spanish rider, Celia Cobo with ‘Etincelle de Saint’A’.

 

In the 1.30 class the winner was Portuguese rider, Diana Ferreira Pinto with ‘Lascadello-F’; followed by Swiss rider, Noah Pfyffer von Altishofen with ‘Fenomene Divy’ and in third was Spanish, Miguel Honrubia Alvariño with ‘E Pleasure Beaufour’.

 

The winners in the Classic Tour classes were: the 1.30, Lauren Alice Paduano for France with ‘Berthe de Creans’; the 1.20, Irish rider, Sorcha Gamble with ‘My Sina VD Kalevallei’ and in the 1.10, British rider, Lauren Caley with ‘A-Lemonade Z’.

 

In the CSIO, Spanish, Alex Sagarduy was top of the podium in the1.45, 2Ph, Young Rider class with ‘Classique Des Loups’ and another Spanish rider, Elena Appendino took top spot in the 1.40 with ‘Grupo Prom Hacienda’.

 

In the Junior classes there was a Dutch win from Liv Linssen and ‘Lyn’ in the 2Ph 1.40 class and a British win from Izabella Rogers with ‘Cantante 47’ in the 1.35 class which was kindly sponsored by Geolastic, who specialise in equestrian arena surfaces, and surface management.

 

In the Children’s classes, there was a win for Spanish rider Lucas Morote Soria in the 1.30 with ‘Gabriela Manciaise’ whilst the Dutch rider Wimpie Vos with ‘Checkpoint Chacco’ was top of the podium in the 1.25.

 

Tomorrow is the penultimate Sunday and finishes off this busy week here at the Andalucía Sunshine Tour, which is kindly sponsored by the Junta de Andalucía, through the Consejería de Turismo and Andalucía Exterior, and by the Diputación provincial de Cádiz. There will be 19 classes including three Longines Ranking classes and the GP classes for the Young Riders, Juniors and Children.
