Sanne Thijssen wins the second Longines Ranking class in a row

The talented Dutch rider won today’s 1.50m class with ’Con Quidam RB’

Tomorrow there are 13 classes including the fun Suzuki Jump&Drive

Dutch rider, Sanne Thijssen is dominating the Ranking classes this week, today she won the second one in a row, to add to her the wins on the 10th and 17th this month, here at the Andalucía Sunshine Tour 2023; sponsored by the ‘Consejería de Turismo, Cultura y Deporte and co-financed by the European Union.

Yesterday she won with ‘Hi There’, and today with, the 17yr old Stallion, ’Con Quidam RB’, who is by  ‘Quinar Z’, dam sire being ’Cardino 5’ and with whom she won the WKD Trophy on the 10th.  Sanne is just 25, and is currently Ranked at 106, a place we feel will clearly rise as she continues with excellent results here at Montenmedio. .

Second place went to the current Spanish Showjumping Champion, Armando Trapote Mariscal with the amazingly athletic ‘Tornado VS’ (‘Toulon’ x ‘Contender’) and in third was the top Swiss rider, Martín Fuchs,who is currently number two in the Rankings, He was riding ‘Commissar Pezi’ (‘Commissario’ x ‘Böckmann’s Lord Pezi’).

Fourth was French rider, Olivier Robert with ‘Iglesias D.V.’ (‘Quasimodo Van De Molendreef’ x ‘Indorado’) and fifth, Dutch rider, Michael Greeve with ‘Jacksonville Eurohill’ (‘Emerald’ x ‘Carambole’). This class was set at 1.50m, (FT) held in the main  David Broome area.

British, Matthew Sampson was back on top of the podium with ‘MGH Candy Girl’ (‘Sligo Candy Boy’ x ‘Cruising’) in the second Ranking class of the day, the Medium Tour 1.45, which was in Milton arena.

Second was the successful Spanish rider Kevin González de Zárate with ‘Favorito’; third Czech, Ales Opatrny with ‘Holland TN’; fourth, the Italian Francesco Turturiello with ‘Quite Balou’ and in fifth was Irish rider, Dermott Lennon with ‘All Pleasure Hero II Z’.

Kevin was also the winner of the Big Tour 1.45 class with ‘Kilimanjaro Van Overis Z’. French rider, Olivier Perreau was second on ‘Dream Boy D’Aiguilly’ and third was Martin Fuchs with ‘Bastille’.

Maryk Sahney from India was our winner in the Big Tour 1.35 with ‘Flyer B’.  Spanish riders, Maya de la Joya with ‘Un Lord du Rozel’ and Borja Bidón Daurella with ‘Cantalobos Cera Z’ completed the podium.

The Medium Tour 1.40, was won by the young Harry Allen with ‘Carrera Denfer’; second was French rider Valentín Besnard with ‘Eros de Carville’ and Martin Fuchs was once again in the rosettes with both ‘Zaffiro Blu Di Franciacorta’ and ‘Viper Z’ in both third and fourth places.

There was another Irish winner in the Medium Tour 1.30 from Ella Clancy with ‘Corraghoe Steel’, second was Croatian rider, Josipa Koletic with ‘Blow Up de Banuel’ and third was the Swedish rider, Jacob Hellström with ‘Starline’.

In the 8yr old class there was a Spanish top three with Sergio Alvarez Moya winning the class on ‘Kaylinde’ who is by ‘VDL Sirocco Blue’, dam sire ‘Labor’s VDL Indorado’ and owned by RUNway Stables B.V.  Ismael Garcia Roque was  second with ‘Happy Hour’ and in third was Alvaro Gonzalez de Zarate with ‘Casa Diva PS’.

Winners in the Small Tour were; 1.40, British Nicole Lockhead Anderson with ‘Emerald Irish Cruise’; 1,35, British Kayleigh Watts with ‘Edinson Des Matis’ and Italian Andrea Pino with ‘He Men’ in the 1.30.

Tomorrow we continue with 13 classes.  The Small Grand Prix will be set at 1.45 and is another Ranking class. It will be held in the Milton arena. The entertaining Suzuki Jump&Drive class also takes place tomorrow, with riders jumping a small course of fences set at 1.10, and then dismounting and driving a Suzuki car around a set of cone obstacles, as fast as they can causing much hilarity and cheering from the audience. The Jump&Drive is held in the covered arena that was inaugurated last year and that has allowed Dehesa Montenmedio, to take competition to a higher level and permit competitions to continue when the weather is unfavourable. It is a very versatile space and unique as it is also a removable structure.

The Jump&Drive class is enjoyed by all at the show and attracts an enthusiastic crowd of spectators and including riders and supporters. It is held at 18:30 and Mahou beers will be offering free beverages at the side of the arena.
