Another young horse day at Dehesa Montenmedio brought another Spanish win, this time courtesy of the partnership between Jesús Garmendia and HH Atlanta de Arezzo.
It was a day marked by a high number of entries, with two classes divided into sections after exceeding one hundred starters, and several horses repeating victories, underlining the strong competitive level of the circuit.
In the class for 8-year-old horses, with more than one hundred participants, two classifications were established. One was led by a regular top performer so far this circuit: Sniper des Lilas Blancs, by Hamilton du Chapitre, ridden by Kendra Claricia Brinkop. The Stephex Stables rider and the BWP gelding have now claimed three wins out of the four classes contested at the Andalucía Sunshine Tour.
In the other group, Spanish victory came through Jesús Garmendia with HH Atlanta de Arezzo, a Spanish-bred CDE mare by Arezzo VDL out of a Diamant de Semilly dam.
The first 7-year-old class was won by Babeau van de Katten Eeck Z, a son of Bamako de Muze, ridden by Italy’s Gregorio Zucchini Affronti. The second, also with over one hundred starters, produced two winners: Angel of Picobello Z with France’s Valentin Pacaud, and Nero van het Danaukseshof with Belgium’s Philips de Vuyst.
In the 6-year-old division, victories went to Una d’Olympia de Tiji (Black Cera d’Ick x Baloubet du Rouet), ridden by Belgium’s Ugo Berrittella, and to Uquila with Czech rider Jaroslav Sima. The daughter of El Barone 111 Z out of a Tornesch dam has now recorded four consecutive wins in her latest outings.
Among the standouts once again was Project El, by Carrera VDL and ridden by Álvaro González de Zárate. He finished fifth, delivering his fourth clear round in as many appearances. The Basque rider also placed sixth with Champion 2000 Z, a son of Cornet Obolensky. Diakato Boy PS, ridden by Fidel Dávila, and the Spanish-bred CDE Tarmitage de Folch, ridden by his breeder Jesús Folch, also impressed, finishing tenth and eleventh respectively.
The two 5-year-old classes were once again held against the clock without timing, with all combinations finishing clear sharing first place. In the first class, 23 partnerships delivered faultless rounds, while 24 achieved clear rounds in the second.
On Thursday, the final classes for 5-, 6- and 7-year-olds will take place, along with the first competitions of the second CSI4*, marking another intense day of sport at the Andalucía Sunshine Tour. The circuit, which runs over seven weeks, is sponsored by the Regional Government of Andalusia, through the Ministry of Tourism and Andalusia Abroad, and by the Provincial Council of Cádiz, institutional backing that strengthens its international profile and its sporting, economic and tourism impact on the region.
