The first classes in the CSI2* and the CSIO3* began today

Thursday’s timetable was a busy one with the CSI2* and the CSIO3* starting up and riders taking to the arenas from 09:00, in this,  the second week of the Andalucía October Tour

In the CSI2* 1.30m class, Scarlett Dentressangle repeated her win on last Saturday,  with Echo du Galopin. British rider, Ellie Guy was second with Origi van de Bandam.  Irish rider, Marta Hughes-Bravo was third, with Miss Belgium 111, keeping up this pair’s excellent form after their win in the 1.30m,  2PhSp last Thursday.

 

The 1.50m Accumulator, kicked off the action here at Montenmedio today in the CSIO3*. This was the biggest class of the day and Moroccan Olympian, Abdelkebir Ouaddar, riding  the very fast Baccarat Meniljean  (Diamant de Semilly), was our winner.  His time of 58.38s topped the leader board from the off.  Second was another Olympian,  Marco Kutscher, who stopped the clock in 58.87s with Origi van de  Maltahoeve.  Third was young, Max Wachman with Kilkenny who he also rode in the National Cup Final in Barcelona, in 2023.

 

The CSI2* 1.35m class was won by Jesús Garmendia Echevarría and Coco Star des Gy with the fastest clear.  Katharina Offel was second with Baloutina HB, who she rode last week in the 7yr old classes and in third was Dutchrider Fleur Holleman, with Innuendo R&D.

 

The CSIO3* 1.40 class was won by top Irish rider, Michael Pender, repeating his win from last week in the CSI3*;  but this time riding HHS Vancouver. Portuguese rider Rafael Dinis Rocha was second with Jupiter and Danish rider Sophia Studd, was third with the experienced  mare, Holsteins Matina.

 

The CSI2*1.40m was won b Thibault Philippaerts riding Fufu Z.  Second was Jesús Garmendia Echevarría with Valut 2 and in third were Emily Dehoff and  Manou de Muze.

 

The Barbate Council Trophy was a 2Ph Sp class and the track was 1.45m, with many riders using the class as warm up for tomorrow’s Nations Cup.  In the end the winner was the Spanish rider, Joel Valles Rosell with his relatively new ride, the super mare,  Dahna De Ponthual who flew around, stopping the cook in 34.13s, just ahead of American rider, Zayna Rizvi, who was second with Oryzon Van Het Schaeck in 34.89s.  Jesus Garmendia Echevarria with the lovely grey, Callias, was third,   topping off a brilliant day of results for him.

 

The CSIYH continued today with the 7yr olds now jumping 1.35 meters.  Times were tight in the results in this competitive class with Sanne Thijssen on the top of the podium on Make It Happen.  Cameron Hanley was second with Matricia and Jason Smith was third, with One And Only Eda Z.

The 6yr olds track also went up to 1.30m in their 2Ph Sp.  This class was dominated by the French rider who took the top two places,  Mathieu Bourdeaud’Hui.  He was first with Stan Van D'Abdijhoeve and second with Silhouette Van D'Abdijhoeve. Squeezing in between was Irish rider, Nicholas Connors with Chelone Z, who were the winners in this section last Saturday.

               

In the 5yr olds, 1.15m class, José Antonio García Diana took the top two places on the podium  winning with Ych Happy followed by Hazelberg's Opium. Third was Irish rider, Shane O'Reilly with Bossa Nova Boy.

 

The Nation Cup will be held tomorrow and the nations taking part, are, in draw order;  Columbia, Denmark, Portugal, Switzerland, Morocco, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, France, Spain, Ireland, USA, Belgium, Italy, Turkey, Brazil, Canada and finally Great Britain.  With such top countries participating the event promises to be really exciting and should keep the tension up right until the very last rider to go.
