With three weeks of Spanish championships in dressage, showjumping (juniors, young riders and adults and young horses) then three weeks of International showjumping including a Nations Cup with 17 countries participating and a CSI4* to finish off the programme; the fifth edition of this Andalucía October Tour confirms its importance as an important date in the equestrian calendar.
Since the 25th of September the showground here at Montenmedio here in Andalucía, has been converted into the epicentre of equestrian events, and with more than 1,100 riders and 2,200 horses from 41 countries, the Tour still continues to grow each year. This year it included both dressage and a CSI4* and eventing, expanding its scope and proving to be a resounding success. The Nations Cup was won by an exciting young Irish team and was the highlight of the second week of the international jumping competition with a record number of countries bringing teams here. This and the high number of entrants in the classes, verified that Montenmedio is now a popular venue and firmly anchored in the showjumping calendar.
More than 800.000 euros were given out in prizes and 35.000 visitors passed through the gates all demonstrating the economic importance this competition has over the now, six weeks.
Teresa Blázquez: “We are very satisfied with the evolution of the 5th Andalucía October Tour. At a competitive and organizational level, it has been a complete success. The participants were very happy with the entire event. They were able to work in many of our arenas, on both grass and sand, which were in fantastic condition, and they were able to enjoy a great end to the season with incredible weather conditions. We have experienced truly exciting days, with the finals of the Spanish Championships, which are always very thrilling, the Nations Cup, and all the Grand Prix events. These are unforgettable moments that become part of the history of the Andalucía October Tour,” she added.
“I would also like to thank the entire team for the effort they put in to make everything perfect. The human qualities of each and every one of them and the passion they feel for what they do are key to our continued growth and improvement each year. I would also like to thank all our sponsors for their support; without them, this would be much more difficult. This year we were fortunate to have the presence of the president of the Cádiz Provincial Council, Almudena Martínez del Junco, as well as the delegate of the Andalusian Regional Government in Cádiz, Mercedes Colombo, whom we personally thanked for the support of the administrations they represent. Finally, I would like to express my immense gratitude to all the riders and owners who trust in us every year, including in October. They are the true stars of the Andalucía October Tour,”
There are still some events remaining in 2025 here at Montenmedio: the Andalusian Dressage and Show Jumping Championships, which will take place from November 12th to the 16th and the Andalusian Driving and Eventing Championships from December 11th to 14th.
And very, very soon, the XXXII (32nd) Andalucía Sunshine Tour will begin, from January 15th to March 22nd, 2026.
