Victory for Margareth Eikner & “Corvette 2G Z” in the PAVO Trophy at the CSI2* – ASST 2026

Thursday, 26th of February 2026

Competition got underway in this fourth week of the Circuito Hípico del Sol, with the first classes of the Andalucía Sunshine Tour. The event receives institutional support from the Junta de Andalucía — through the Regional Ministry of Tourism and Andalucía Exterior — and the Provincial Council of Cádiz.

In the highlight class of the opening day of Week 4, the Estonian anthem was played as Margareth Eikner proved the fastest (0 faults in 59.07 seconds) in the Table A against the clock class held in Arena 5 (Milton). She was followed by France’s Cedric Angot in second place (0/59.74s) and the Netherlands’ Thijmen Vos in third (0/61.53s). The Estonian rider secured victory in the PAVO Trophy, a 1.45m class designed by Spanish course designer Luis González Molina and his team, who will be responsible for building the courses throughout the weekend. Spain’s Pedro Mateos placed 5th and 6th, finishing as the best-placed Spanish rider in the class.

Earlier in the day, the 1.40m class was contested with more than 80 starters, resulting in an Irish victory. Tim Brennan claimed first place riding “Diadema della Caccia” (0 faults in 25.63 seconds) in this Two-Phase Special class. Spanish riders came close to the top spot, filling the next three positions: Pablo Santiago Artime & “Chiquita d’Aiguilly” (2nd – 0/25.86s), Borja Bidón Daurella & “Hermione D Armanville” (3rd – 0/26.93s) and Armando Trapote Mariscal & “Karl P” (4th – 0/27.02s).

In the CSI2* 1.35m class, first place went to Morocco’s Jad Guerraoui & “No Nonsens” (0/56.43s), followed once again in second place by Spain’s Jorge Bidón Daurella & “Coach Cornet” (0/57.41s), with Gerardo Menéndez Mieres finishing third aboard “Deus de Tus” (0/57.57s).

The 1.30m class saw clear British dominance, with five British female riders occupying the top five positions. Jessica Hewlet, Tabby Morgan-Evans and Ellie Townend completed the podium. In the 1.20m class, victory went to Portugal’s Mercedes Moreira, followed by the USA’s Sienna Smith and Great Britain’s Charlotte Bevan.

In the three CSIYH young horse classes, the results were as follows: fourteen clear rounds in the 5-year-old division and twenty-one clear rounds among the 6-year-olds. The 7-year-old class saw a Dutch victory, with Sanne Udink & “Can’t Beat This Z” taking first place, ahead of Austria’s Bianca Babanitz in second and Germany’s Maximilian Schmid in third.

Changes to the CSIO – Youth Categories at Montenmedio 2026

Regarding the international competition scheduled for the youth categories, the Spanish Equestrian Federation’s Show Jumping Department and the Circuito Hípico del Sol Organising Committee have confirmed that the CSIO Nations Cups for Children, Juniors and Young Riders planned for March in Montenmedio will not take place due to the minimum team entry requirement established by FEI regulations not being met.

However, the competition will continue in CSI format for these categories and will also serve as an official monitoring event for Spanish riders by the RFHE technical team as part of the season planning. The National Teams’ sports programme continues as scheduled, with upcoming international events in Compiègne, Zuidwolde and Hagen forming part of the preparation process towards the European Championship.
