Brazilian rider, Felipe Amaral wins the Royal Bliss Trophy with ‘Germanico T’

Rebecca McGoldrick for Canada is second with ‘Horatio Van Erpekom’ and Julie Welles for America is third with ‘Greatfull’

Brazilian riders are really showing their class here the Andalucía Sunshine Tour 2022.  This time the win was from Felipe Amaral in the Lonhines Ranking,  Royal Bliss Trophy, a 1.45 speed class with a field of 86.  Today Felipe was riding his long term partner ‘Germanico T’,  who is now 15 years old and by the amazing sire, Numero Uno, dam sire, Julius.  The pair stopped the clock on this demanding course, in just 59.67s  the only pair to complete clear in under 60s.

 

In second place was Canadian rider, a regular here at the Tour, Rebecca McGoldrick riding the lovely gelding, ’Horatio Van Erpekom’ who is by another iconic stallion, Kannan, dam sire Udarco Van Overis.  These two took second position in 61.45s.  They were also second yesterday in the 1.40 class.  In third was Julie Welles (USA) with a regular ride for her,  ‘Greatfull’ who is by Congress 4 x Peking.  One of yesterday’s winners, William Whitaker with ‘Jalellah OL’ (Chacco Blue x Baloubet de Rouet) was fourth today and in fifth was yet another talented Brazilian Olympic rider, Yuri Mansur with ‘Vitiki’ (Valentino 240 x For Expo).

 

Kendra Brinkop and ‘Eclatant’ (Berlin x Hearthbreaker) were the winners of the 1.40 Coca-Cola Trophy class which was held in the Milton arena.  They stopped the clock in this speed class in just 64.54s beating William Whitaker’s time with ‘Miss Aragona PS’ (Messenger x Aragorn W) who finished in 65.63s and took second place.  Frederike Staack from Germany was third with ‘Copain du Perchet CH’ (Conteur x Ragazzo) and the Spanish rider Carolina Aresu García Obregón with ‘Princesa del Fabries’ was fourth.  In fifth was Michael Hughes (USA) with ‘Levista DBH Z’.

 

The top three places in the 1.35 were taken by;  recently arrived Dutch rider, Kim Emmen with ‘Catoo-Lavall’;  British rider, Iwan Carpenter with ‘Merllyn’s Chacco B’ and again JulieWelles, this time with ‘Diadem du Thot’.

 

Iwan Carpenter was the winner of the 1.30, with ‘Merllyns Tiger Lilly’.  Runners up were both Spanish,  Juan Riva Francos with ‘Cadum de Champloue’ and José Bono Rodríguez with ‘Nokito VD Weretherbach Z’.

 

Young Horse classes were also in full swing today with British rider,  Adam Botham winning the 7yo with ‘Cerano Van de Dijkhoeve Z’ (Clarimo x Polydor).  The 6yo class had a British top three with the win taken by Faye Sutton  and ‘Billy Hepburn’ (Chacoon Blue x Animo).  The 5yo winner was from Finland, Erika Hanhisuanto with the lovely  ‘Merci Bien HX’.

Jumping continues tomorrow with six classes in the CSI2* and the 3 Young Horse age groups.

 

Entrance to the showground for the general public is free.  Jumping begins at around 9:00 and finishes around 17:00.  Parking is free in zoned areas.  Various restaurants serving local delicacies and produce, and a diverse shopping village are available on site.
