Busy day of jumping here at Montenmedio topped off by the Celeste Trophy

The arenas here were bustling today,  as the last week of the IV Andalucía October Tour got underway with a big win for Tom Wachman

Tom Wachman is just 20 yrs old and has had a great season this year, being part of the CH-EU-Y-S winning Irish team back in July.  Today he had a commanding win with the same chestnut mare, Cathalina S, in the  Celeste Trophy, a 1.45m ACC, Longines Ranking class;  this pair also won the 2* Ranking class here on the 25th of October.  Cathalina S is a very fast mare as she proved again today by stopping the clock in 63.63s, way ahead of the runner up in the class, El Ghali Boukaa who finished with A Kyss, in 66.35s.

Third was the British rider James Davenport, with Happiness DK Z in this very competitive class

which was kindly sponsored by the Celeste wines from the Torres bodega.  The Celeste wine range goes from fruity, full-bodied reds to a modern fresh aromatic white and a fruity and lively rose.

The 1.40m, ended up being divided into two sections due to the number of entries.  This was a speed class and the fastest time of the day went to Anthony Bourquard with Fifty Fifty Delacense, our other winner was Joe Fernyhough with Calcourt Countdown.  Second places went to Joseph Trunkfield  with Grennanstown Sarco Lux Hill and  Bertrand Genin with Holiday de la Bouverie, third were Billy Twomey with Diego del Caribe and Katharina Offel with Baloutina HB.

1.35m class in the Deister arenas, was won by Dutch rider, Fleur Holleman with Innuendo R&D, who was over a second faster than Evie Maslen with Que Splendour GH and third, Uri Burstein with Chacca Keeps II.

The CSI3* 1.30m once again gave us an Irish winner,  Marta Hughes-Bravo and Miss Belgium 111. Ellie Guy was second with Origi van de Bandam and also fifth with Dantino B. Ines Joly was third with Elvic V/H Hoeve-Terras Z, who joined her string of horses back in August.

The 1.20m was in the Big Star arena and one Irish rider took the top two spots on the podium,  This was Ella Kenny winning with Carrickadawson Womanizer, a 12 yr old who won two classes last week in the 2* and has stepped up to the 3* this week followed by Calle Cool in second. Victoria Sprogis with CSF Foxy Lady was third.  This was an accumulator class and 21 from the 34 competitors achieved the 65  maximum points.

The same thing happened in the 1.10m class, but this time it was British rider, Eleanora Ljungman sitting in the top two spots;  she won with the stallion Artful Trinity and was second with the mare Jamaica EBH.  In third was Allegra Banks-Clark with Uma Z.

In the CSIYH classes today, both the 6yr olds 1.25m class and the 5yr olds 1.15m classes were FnoT.  In the former 14 from 22 jumped clear and in the latter 27 from 39 .

The 7yr olds, 1.30m 2PhSp was in the Cumano arena and the Irish  dominated the class.

Once again Jack Ryan piloted Mondavi to the top spot.  This lovely mare is by Tyson, from a Warrenstown You 2 mare and is owned by Marguerite Ryan.  Madgeslane Louis was second, ridden by Michael Pender; this gelding is by Luidam from an Obos Quality 004 mare and is owned by the rider and Annmarie Pender.  In third was the mare, Lugana 111 by Luchador from a Colbert GTI mare ridden by Belgian, Gilles Borgonjon.

Tomorrow we continue with the CSI3* including a Longines Ranking class and the Small Grand Prix,  as well as the Young Horse classes,  The whole event is sponsored by the Department of Tourism, Culture and Sport, and co-financed by the European Union and the Provincial Council of Cadiz.
