Carlos García Sánchez and ‘Coree’ win the first Junior* qualifier which was sponsored by Hipotels

Pablo Movellán López was the winner of Juniors qualifier with ‘Centina de Maeza’ and Lucía Valeros Sánchez won the Infants, with ‘Vinca Jacob’

A really fast time of just 65.91s meant that Carlos García Sánchez and ‘Coree’ could not be beaten in today’s first qualifier round for the Juniors* section of the Spanish Minors Showjumping Championships. The 1.35m course was built in the Milton arena here at Montenmedio and was an Accumulator with a four second penalty added for each pole and was kindly sponsored by Hipotels. Hot on Carlos’ heels was his brother Borja García Sánchez who was riding  ‘Cronos D’Elle’ and finished in 68.27s. Rodrigo Martín Garaizabal and ‘Picasso del Ara’ were third with Haizea Garmendia Ajuria and ‘Conthargos Rouge’ in fourth and Daniel Ocaña Sánchez with ‘Artemis du Gevaudan’ took fifth place.

 

The results will be converted to points for the overall Championship scores. Carlos García leads the way with 0 points; his brother Borja lies in second with 1.18 seconds, and Rodrigo Martín in third with 1.41 seconds.

 

Pablo Movellán López from Cantabria, and 'Centina de Maeza' were the fastest pair in the first Junior qualifier, set at 1.25m in the same arena. His time was 65.60s with Paloma Rubio Muñoz, taking second place in 68.88s with 'Bip De L'Isle'. Izaro Junquera López with 'Danah' was third; Marcos Belles Mari with 'Ange de Baerenrain', fourth; and Nicolás Cobo Teran with 'Corinna', fifth.

20 riders finished this round on 0 points from the 53 participants.

 

In the first Infants qualifier, Lucía Valeros Sánchez was the winner with ‘Vinca Jacob’. Alexia Dolores de la Huerga Nechaeva took second place with ‘Enfant Terrible NH Z’; Ana Castro Godlewska was third with ‘Polidora’; Sara Ferrer López with ‘Qastart Van’t Siamshof Doble R’ and Lucía Pérez Gamarra with ‘Ibsion del Maset’ took fourth and fifth place, respectively.

 

The riders taking part in these Spanish Minors Showjumping Championships in the Infants* and Children sections had their arena familiarisation today and their first rounds of the competition will be tomorrow. The riders in the Pony North & South League Finals also had their arena familiarisation today.

 

In the complementary classes Belén Ferrándiz Alfonso with ‘Diamond Lady SDW Z’ was top of the podium in the 1.30m 2Ph Sp; Esteban Domínguez Sollheim was the winner in the 1.20m FT, with ‘Calido Du Lys’ and María José Marinas Sánchez with ‘For Ever Braveheart’ won the  1.10m FT class.

 

Tomorrow, the 3rd of October, competition will continue with a busy day of jumping planned. In arena 5 Milton there will be the second Infant* qualifier, the first qualifier for the Infant group and also the team qualifiers for these two groups.

 

The team qualifier will be a 2phase set at 1.20m. Later the second qualifiers for the  Juniors and the Juniors * will be held, with courses set at 1.30m and 1.40 respectively.

Arena 8 will hold the 1.30m and 1.20m complementary classes tomorrow and also the first qualifier for the Children which will be set at 1.05m.

 

The Pony Finals will be held in the Big Star arena 18, with classes for Ponies D (1.15); D2 Ponies (1.05); C (1.00); C2 (0.90); B (0.80); Open 2 (0.75); B2 (0.70); A (0.55); A2 (0.50) and Open 1 (0.50).

 

The first individual finals will be held on Saturday, the Spanish Jumping Champions for the Infants, Juniors, and Juniors*. On Sunday, we will find out the winners of the Infants* and the Children, as well as both the Juniors team finals.
