Emanuele Camilli, top of the podium in the Grand Prix with ‘Odense Odeveld’

The brilliant Italian rider beat off a strong challenge from Martin Fuchs and ‘Che Tipa’, who took second place; with Kara Chad and ‘Igor GPH’ in third

Italian rider Emanuele Camilli was our winner today in the second CSI2* Grand Prix, the highlight class finishing off the Andalucía Pre Sunshine Tour 2023. There were 13 top horses and riders in a very competitive and exciting jump off in the class. Emanuele stopped the clock in 29.67 seconds with the gelding ‘Odense Odeveld’, an impressive feat as he was over 0.70 seconds faster than very fast Swiss rider, Martin Fuchs, who took second place with ‘Che Tipa’ in 30.42 seconds.

Emanuele Camilli told us in his interview, ‘the course was really nicely built all week, really technical (and today), really nice for the first Grand Prix of the season and to make the horse feel comfortable in these rings, and keep on going for the next weeks’.

Emanuele also told us his horse, 'Odense Odeveld’; ‘is a new horse in my team and I have only been riding him for a few months. He's a nine yrs old, by 'Diamant de Semilly' (owned by Paul Schockemöhle), a really, really nice horse, with a lot of temperament, really careful and I have really big hopes for him for the future to go on in the bigger classes in this sport. Let's hope’.

Emanuele also agreed that; ’It's always a good feeling to win a Grand Prix class at the start of the season’; and his main plans for this horse during the Tour? 'I think I will try to build him up to jump a bigger Grand Prix, so maybe I will start him in some of the 4* Grand Prix classes’.

Beating Martin Fuchs, who is currently Ranked 2nd in the world ,is no mean feat, but Martin was very happy with second place today and his horses performance. ‘Che Tipa’, his nine year old mare, is by ‘Casero della Caccia’ x ‘Ogano Sitte’ and has consistently given excepcional results through the Tour so far.

Canadian rider Kara Chad was third today with ‘Igor GPH’ (‘Harley’ x ‘Crawford’); and Spanish rider, Leticia Riva Gil with ‘Victoria d’Argent’ (‘Nabab de Reve’ x ‘Royal Feu’) was fourth. Italian, Luca Moneta with ‘Chilli 41’ (‘Crunch’ x ‘Alcatraz’) took fifth position.
