‘Emeralds F1’, by ‘Emerald’ x ‘Indoctro’ and owned by Manilva Equestrian SL was top of the podium in the first qualifying round of the Spanish Young Horses, 7yr old Championships. Ridden to victory by Jesús Torres García they stopped the clock in 68.41s, almost 5s faster than their nearest challenger, ‘Nibali’ ridden by Mariano Martínez Bastida. ‘Jimena J’ with Luis Astolfi Florez was third in 75.08 segundos. ‘Ilena du Maragnac’ with Kevin González de Zárate and ‘Pop up’ with Álvaro González de Zárate complete the top 5 in this 1.35m class, held on grass in the David Broome arena.
‘Valquiria de Capellán’ (‘Vidar’ x ‘Coriano’ and owned by Campos de Nembro S.L.) was the winner of the 1.30m, 6yr old qualifier with Santiago Núñez Riva and they stopped the clock in the Milton arena in just 66.39s. ‘Chakerato NDP Z’ with José Luis Milán Dopico was second, and in third was ‘Com Cerena SB Z’ with Guillermo González Alonso. ‘Go Go Girl Van Overis Z’ with Alejandro Alonso Buzo was fourth and in fifth was ‘Andrea Des Rosiers Z’ with María González Herrero.
The arena familiarisation classes were also held here today at Montenmedio for the following categories of the Championship: Absolute, Young Riders, the Classic classes (1.10, 1.20, 1.30 and 1.40) and the 5yr old Young Horses who will all have their first qualifiers tomorrow.
Also tomorrow are the second qualifiers for the 6 and 7yr olds.
Friday we will crown the first winners of the Spanish Championships with the final for the 6yr old Young Horses, where the course will be a maximum of 1.25m for verticals and 1.20m for the oxers. There will also be the second qualifying rounds for Absolute, Young Riders, Classic (again all heights) and the 5yr olds.
