Swiss rider, Anthony Bourquard and ‘Festival Semilly’ won the Tesalia Trophy class
The Andalucía October Tour reaches its peak tomorrow with the Nations Cup
Spanish rider, Hugo Álvarez Amaro was crowned the winner of the 1.50 Big class today in the CSIO3*, with ‘Casaspezia’, an nine year old mare by ‘Casalido’ x ‘Bockmann’s Lord Pezi’, who is owned by Plantaciones Agrícolas las Hazas SL. Hugo was also the winner of the 1.40 CSI2* with ‘Billie de la Mire KAR’ and the 6yr old class with ‘Merona VD Donkhoeve Z’, all in all, a brilliant day at the office for this talented rider.
Two Brazilians took the next places, Pedro Veniss riding ‘Gershwin Dromelle’ was second and Eduardo Pereira de Menezas was third ‘H5 Messentus PS’, both stopping the clock in under 63s. Spanish rider, Joel Vallés Rosell with ‘Dahna de Ponthual’ was fourth and the American rider Paris Sellon was fifth with ‘The Duches’.
Swiss rider Anthony Bourquard with ‘Festival Semilly’, a ten year old stallion by ‘Tornesch 1042’ x ‘Orame’ was the winner of the 2PhSp, 1.45 CSIO3* Tesalia Trophy, held in the David Broome grass arena. In second was French rider, Robin Lesqueren with ‘Galax du Rouet’, followed by: Portuguese, Rodrigo Giesteira Almeida with ‘GB Diamantina’; Brazilian, Felipe Guinato with ‘Garota de Ipanema MC’ and Italian, Luca Moneta with ‘Knock out’.
There was aso a Swiss win in the last CSIO3*, the 1.40, from Bryan Balsiger with ‘Checker’ (‘Clarcon’ x ‘Baloussini’). Second was the British rider, Rebecca Marsh with ‘Elegance Z’; third Italian, Giampiero Garofalo with ‘Mont Rose HX’; fourth German, Tom Schewe with ‘Khanum’ and fifth was Danish rider, Kamilla Rasmussen with ‘Chico Z’.
The top 1.40 CSI2* class was split into two with the fastest time from our winner of the Big class, Grande Hugo Álvarez Amaro and ‘Billie de la Mire KAR’ , the winner of the other section was French rider, Felix Jarry with ‘Elgaura’ in this enormous class of more than 100 riders.
Top British event rider Gemma Stevens with ‘Envoy Merelsnest Z’ and Columbian Santiago Díaz Ortega with ‘Chasspleen Flamingo Z’ took the two second places whilst Portuguese Rafael Rocha with ‘Casalita’ and Bryan Balsiger this time riding ‘Highlight’ took the third places.
The 1.35, was won by the Dutch rider, Liv Linssen with ‘Lyn’ followed by Zimbabwean rider, Stephen Wentzel with ‘Katy Perry Terma VM’ and American rider, Sloan Hopson with ‘Claudine Fly’. Campbell Brown with ‘Luca Van’t Eigenlo’; Columbian rider Santiago Díaz with ‘Honfleur’ and British Charlie Atkinson with ‘Ballingowan Leia’ were the top three in the 1.30.
In the Young Horse 7yr old class the winner was ‘Emeralds F1’ with Spanish rider, Jesús Torres García; ‘Merona VD Donkhoeve Z’, with Hugo Álvarez Amado, was the 6yr old winner. The 5yr old winner was ‘Chadandra PS’ with Finnish rider, Sonia Leena Hungerbühler.
The Nations Cup
After today’s draw the order of the teams in the Nations Cup is as follows: Great Britain, the United States, Italy, South Africa, Switzerland, France, Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Portugal, Canada, Austria, Sweden, Ireland, Brazil, Spain, and Colombia. This event is one of the highlights of the 5th Andalucía October Tour here at Montenmedio. The Tour which began on 25th of Sept, is sponsored the Andalusian Regional Government's Ministry of Tourism and Andalusian Foreign Affairs and the Provincial Council of Cádiz
This highly anticipated event will begin at 1:00, following the opening parade, which will begin at 12:15. The event will be attended by the president of the Cádiz Provincial Council, Almudena Martínez del Junco, and the representative of the Spanish Parliament, Andrés Clavijo, as well as the president of the Royal Spanish Equestrian Federation, Javier Revuelta.
The Marta Award, KAR Sport Horses for Excellence in Horse Care and Wellbeing :
The Andalucía October Tour is proud to will host the awarding off the Marta Santos Casamichana Award, which is sponsored by KAR Sport Horses, the sponsor of the Nations Cup. This award is for Excellence in Horse Care and Wellbeing .
The award was created in collaboration with KAR Sport Horses, as a special recognition presented in memory of Marta Santos Casamichana, who sadly lost her life in an accident on May 20, 2025, while en route to the CSIO3* in Peelbergen. Marta was an accomplished groom and a much-loved member of the KAR Sport Horses team. She is remembered for her dedication, warmth, and professionalism. Her tireless commitment to the horses in her care, especially those of rider Carlos Bosch Cebrián, reflected her deep love for the sport and the true spirit of excellence that defines our community.
The award winners will be announced after the conclusion of the Nations Cup event.
