Impressive win for Matthew Sampson and ‘Elisa BJX in today’s big class

Spanish rider, José Bono and ‘Ali Baba HT’ were second, with tie for third from; Teresa Blázquez with ‘Nasa de Toxandria’ and Anastasia Nielsen with ‘Castro W’. Santiago Núñez with ‘Valentino de Hus Z’ took fifth

There’s no stopping this talented young  British rider, Matthew Sampson, starting off his week winning today’s big class, just as he did in the first week on the 19th, with the super athletic bay mare ‘Elisa BJX’.  It is the second week of the Andalucía Pre Sunshine Tour, which is kindly sponsored by the Consejería de Turismo, Cultura y Deporte and co-financed by European Union, and this very fast 11 yr old, bay mare, ‘Elisa BJX’ once again showed her class today. The mare is by ‘Eldorado VD Zeshoek’ with the dam sire ‘Quilot’ and today she literally flew around the Milton arena, over the 1.40 course, to complete in 61.33 seconds and no one else came anywhere close to her time.  A very happy Matt, who was also 6th with ‘MGH Candy Girl’, told us after the class, “‘Elisa BJX’, well, she’s great and really consistent and the plan is to build her up to bigger classes throughout the tour!’

In second place was the very popular Spanish rider, José Bono Rodríguez with ‘Ali Baba HT’ (‘Dublin Van Overis’ x ‘Calido I’) in a time of 64.48 seconds, and in third place there was a tie, Spanish rider, Teresa Blázquez with ‘Nasa de Toxandria’ (‘Vertigo Saint Benoit’ x ‘Chopin Van Het Moleneind’) alongside Anastasia Nielsen from Monaco, with ‘Castro W’ (‘Cayado 3’ x ‘Aloube Z’) both stopped the clock on 64.98 seconds. Spanish rider, Santiago Nuñez Riva with ‘Valentino de Hus Z’ (`Vivaldi du Seigneur’ x ‘Trophee du Rozel’) was fifth.

Luca Moneta won the 1.35 for Italy with ‘El Capone RK’ and also took third place with ‘Knock out’. Sliding in to second place was Spanish rider Sira Martínez Cullell with ‘Devise du Salbey’. Another Spanish rider, Jesús Torres García with ‘Cassidy S’ was fourth, with Matthew Sampson taking 5th in this class with ‘Geneve R’.

There was a Spanish win for Leticia Riva Gil with ‘Conan de Taute’ in the 1.30, with Anastasia Nielsen, taking second on ‘Buffy 53’, and Swedish rider Jacob Hellström, taking third with ‘Starline’.

Jacob was also the winner of the 7yr old class with ‘Charles’. Second was Spanish rider Armando Trapote with ‘Cinsey EK’ and in third was German rider Helmut Schönstetter with ‘Eic Arwen’.

In the 6yr olds 19 horses jumped clear and just 7 were clear in the 5yr olds.

Tomorrow we continue the show with 8 classes, including a 1.45 FEI Longines Ranking class.
