Irish and Spanish riders top the podiums today at the sunny Autumn Tour

Max Wachman wins the Big 1.40m class with Brooklyn de Hus

It was a bright sunny day today at the AutumnTour with a gentle breeze keeping the horses cool.  There were 5 classes and the Irish and Spanish riders really stood out.

The 1.40m Big class was held on the grass David Broome arena and had nearly 80 riders participate in the first round.  The jump off proved to be a real challenge for a fast clear.  The class was won by the talented Irish rider Max Wachman, riding the Conrad bred mare (ds. Fergar Mail), Brooklyn de Hus who is owned by Coolmore Showjumpers.  The French course designer Gregory Bodo set a fair yet demanding course, which included a roll back, a double and some bold riding was needed to reach the wide oxers especially the last fence.  Max finished his round in a stunningly fast 36.03sec, winning the class way ahead of his competitors and adding another first place to his record here after his win with this mare in the 1.35m class on the 8th.  Brazilian rider Pedro Veniss rode an elegantly fast round on Balada de Colores (Baloubet de Rouet x Couleur-Rubin) finishing in 37.19sec and the Italian rider, Antonio Alfonso with Dream Van Generhese (Idian Gold Van x Bon Amo) finished in third with a time of 37.66sec.

The 1.35m class had a win from the local Spanish rider Jesús Torres García with the lovely Grupo Prom Hacienda.  He beat off the Irish rider Conor Swail with Koss Van Heiste.  Third place was the British rider Tania Moody with Reine du Very.

The 1.30m was won by the Spanish rider Ainhoa Manero Benavente with the lovely  15yr old gelding, Fortín. This is their third win in this class here at the Autumn Tour.  Second was the successful Swedish rider Linda Heed with Heart to Heart and third was the American rider Klee Hellerman with Diacasir.

Ireland won the 1.20m class, Joanne Sloan-Allen and Wicked Hope were the fastest and they beat off the Spanish riders Iñaki Lorenzo Simón with Ti’Beau du Prost and Juan Miguel Febrer Riu with who took second and third respectively.

Another Irish victory in the 1.10m class finished off the day of results by the hands of Victoria Loane with Juicy.  Second was the Belgian rider Cassandre Malherbe with Jazz de Torres and finally, in third, was the Russian rider Viktoria Alekseeva con Popcorn de Tiji Z.

The weather looks as if it will continue to be lovely tomorrow for the last day of jumping this week at the Autumn Tour.  There are 5 classes tomorrow as we build up to the highlight of the week, the Big Grand Prix class, which is scheduled to start at 14:00 in the man¡in arena.  This is a FEI, Longines Ranking class and is a qualifier for the Tokyo Olympics, 2021.  Don’t forget that all the action from these top international riders may be followed live through the web site www.sunshinetour.net or by downloading our app which allows you to look at all the details of the competition completely free.
