In just 63.54s a regular competitor here at the Andalucía Sunshine Tour, Jodie Hall McAteer and her 15yr old mare ‘Kimosa Van Het Kritrahof’ (‘Chatman’ x ‘Eros Platiere’) won the 1.45 Ranking class in fine style. The class was held in the Millton arena and was hotly contested but Jodie stopped the clock well ahead of her nearest rival, French rider, Olivier Robert with ‘Espri du Figuier AA’ (‘Upsilon’ x ‘Ryon D’Anzex’) who finished in 64.89s segundos. The next two places also went to British riders; Chloe Winchester with ‘Korlenski’ (‘Cornet Obolensky’ x ‘Mozart del Hayettes’) and Ronnie Jones with ‘Key West’ (‘Otangelo’ x ‘Phin-Phin’). In fifth was Irish rider, Jessica Burke with ‘African Affair’ (‘Billy Congo’).
The 1.40 was pretty much dominated by British riders as they took all the places down to 12th place bar one. In the lead was James Wilson y ‘Radjamerci van de Vlasbloemhoeve’; second was Emma Crawford with ‘King Louie’; third Iwan Carpenter with ‘Merllyn’s Chacco B’ and slipping into fourth was the Dutch rider Finn Boerekamp with ‘Jay Jay Es’. Finally in fifth was Donald Whitaker with ‘Partner In Crime’.
It was a similar theme in the 1.35 with the top three all British riders. Emily Ward was the winner with ‘Millfield Lottery’; Jessica Hewlett second with ‘Ilmar HBC’ and Miles Jon O’Donnell with ‘Jackpot D.S’ was third. In fourth was Wilma Fransson with ‘Aantiq’ from Sweden and in fifth was the Swiss rider, Charlotte Fievet with ‘Carioca’.
British rider, Ben Walker held up the flag in the 1.30 class coming in really fast in this 2Ph Sp with ‘Kantini’ in 21.71s; second was Mexican rider, Ophelie Richard Sánchez and ‘Eklektik des Hutiers’ in 22.55s; in third was British, Olivia Skinner with ‘C-Mikado Wapiti MP Z’; fourth was Belgian, Cyril Cools with ‘Cunenvio EB’ and in fifth was Moroccan, Majid Djaidi with ‘Dragon’.
The winner of the 1.20 was also British, Pollyanna Gredley with ‘Catoki’ followed by Swedish, Lina Renstrom with ‘Joberlina-W’; Spanish, Víctor Astolfi González-Mogena with ‘Vina’; French rider, Theo Guyonnet with ‘Indy Des Fosses’ was fourth and in fifth was Korean, Manjun Kwon with ‘Captain Colombo 2’.
Once again in the 1.10 the British were on top form, taking the top four placings and all finishing in under 60s. Our winner was Bryony Jones with ‘Billy Kvitfjell’; Ronnie Jones was second with ‘Cascum Rockstar’; Amelia Gardiner and ‘Adonna Z’ was third with Emily Glover and ‘Coco Chanell’ taking fourth. In fifth in just over the 60s mark was Dutch rider, Luciano Zandvliet with ‘Madonna’.
The Young Horse classes were also running today. The top two in the 1.30, 7yr olds were both Belgian, ‘Invictrix Bois Chenu’ was once again the winner of the class with Antonio Draga in a really fast time of 61.12s. In second place was ‘Sting de la Supinette’ with Cyril Cools in 64.37s. In third and stopping the clock in just under 70s was ‘Express Yourself’ with the British rider, Ben Walker.
Ben Walker, also rode ‘Arya’ to victory in the 5yr old class; second was the Swedish combination of Lina Renstrom with ‘Take on me’ and in third was ‘Conan de Folch’ ridden by Spanish, Jesús Folch Redondo.
Tomorrow here at the Andalucía Sunshine Tour there are eight classes. The Tour is kindly sponsored by the Junta de Andalucía, through the Consejería de Turismo and Andalucía Exterior, and also the la Diputación provincial de Cádiz. Entry to the showground is free, as is parking in dedicated areas. There is a shopping area, and a variety of restaurants, to make the event a complete day out for the family.
