The Basque Federation team Eguskilore win the Juniors
Lucas Morote Soria riding ‘Carera des Brimbelles’ and Vicente del Campo de Jove with ‘Contina de Maset’ went head to head an exciting jump off for gold in the Spanish Infants* Showjumping Championships. Both riders had a brilliant championship and went clear in the two rounds of the final. Vicente was first to go in the jump off and had eight faults in a time of 32.68s whilst Lucas had a steady clear round in 37.32s taking gold. Bronze went to Carmen Barinaga Mas with ‘Cancale’, who had four faults in the second of the two rounds of the final.
Airoa Gerekiz Etxeandia and ‘Baila du Veillon’ took their second gold in this Championships; after being part of the winning Childen’s team yesterday they also took top spot in a very keenly contested individual final today. There were six riders in the final jump off and Airoa stopped the clock in 26.36s which gave them gold making them the Individual Children’s Spanish Showjumping Champions.
In silver was Ane López Peixoto with ‘Macao’ and in bronze was Maddi Arruza Rodríguez with ‘Ceylan’, all were members of yesterday’s winning Children’s team.
Team Eguiskilore from the Basque Federation were the winners in the Junior team championships. Their chef d’equipe Alberto José Navarro, steered Haizea Garmendía with ‘Conthargos Rouge’; Diego Azofra García with ‘Highlight As’; Izaro Junquera López with ‘Hutopia d’Uxi’ and Uxue Arruza Rodríguez with ‘Clarín de Llamosas’ to victory, the only three combinations from thirteen participants to go clear in both rounds.
In silver were the Madrid Alcalá team, with their chef d’equipe, Juan Ignacio Álvarez Femosel; team members were Lucía Fernández Hidalgo with ‘Ijancy de Kerglenn’; Hugo Vicente Marco with ‘Fly Menjoulet’; Zahira Cargiolli Botero with ‘Olina van de Looise Heide’ and Rodrigo Martín Garaizabal with ‘Picasso del Ara’.
In bronze was the team from Cantabria, with chef d’equipe, Bárbara Mullan Díaz . They jumped off against the team from Asturias and team, Blanco from the Balearics, all on a total of eight faults after the two rounds of the final. Celia Cobo Terán with ‘Etincelle de Saint’a’ had a clear round and led the team to bronze place with Lucas López Benito riding ‘Vik Ydp’; Carmen Anshu Rumoroso Gutiérrez with ‘Itálica Jr 32 53’ and Pablo Movellán López with ‘Centina de Maeza’.
Competition returns here at a Montenmedio on Tuesday 7th of October with the first arena familiarisations for the Spanish Championships and the Young Horses 6 and 7yr olds. The Absolute Spanish Showjumping Championships will be held during the week with the categories Absolute, Young Riders, Classic and Young Horses.
