More than 160 riders and 180 horses will participate in the Spanish Minors showjumping Championships
Today was the opening parade and arena familiarisation. Tomorrow competition begins and continues until Sunday, as a part of the events of the 5th Andalucía October Tour
Today the horses and riders here at the Spanish Minors Showjumping Championships had their opening parade and also arena familiarisation as they prepared for the start of the competition tomorrow. There are 180 horses and 160 riders here, across the different age groups, all ready to compete for these highly esteemed national titles. There are 30 riders in the Infants group and 11 in the Infants*; there are 55 in Juniors and 25 in Juniors* and there are 39 riders in the Childrens group. There are also complementary classes held alongside the Championships with 57 riders and 80 horses competing.
Today the riders took part in the lively opening parade of the Championship; the Andalucían and Madrid teams have the largest number of participants, with in 27 each. The Basque team has 24 riders and the Asturian team 21. There are also representatives from Aragon, the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands, Cantabria, Castile and León, Catalonia, Extremadura, Galicia, and Murcia.
Competition starts up tomorrow, the 2nd of October, with the first qualifying rounds for the Infants at 1.15m; the Juniors at 1.25m and the Juniors* at 1.35m. They will all be competing in the Milton arena from 09:00. Later in the day at 17.15 the Infants* will have their arena familiarisation.
In arena 8 (Baloubet du Rouet ) there will be the complementary classes of 1.30, 1.20 and 1.10m which will start at 11:00 and the arena familiarisation for the Children will take place at 16:00.
Running alongside the Championships there is also the North & South Pony League Final . Their first classes will be in arena 18 (Big Star) and will begin at 13:00.
