70 competitors took to the arena today in the highlight class of the week, the Clip My Horse Grand Prix set at 1.45 and held in the Milton geotextile arena. Fourth to go in the nine horse jump off was top Brazilian rider, Pedro Veniss with the nine year old chestnut mare, ‘CS Hortencia’ who is by ‘Etoulon VDL’ from a ‘Cassini II’ mare. Pedro was chasing Derin Dermisoy, who had set the pace with a clear in 41.14s and he really stepped up to the mark and took the lead in 39.22s with a balanced and smooth winning round.
That meant that the Turkish rider, Derin, with another nine year old mare, ‘Que Cera van’t Ruytershof’ (‘By Ceira d’Ick’, x ‘Diamant de Semilly’) and who had been first to go in the jump off, ended up taking a well deserved second place. These were the only two clears.
In third was the French rider, Olivier Robert with the lovely grey stallion, ‘Esprit du Figuier AA’ who is by the top eventing stallion, ‘Upsilon’ x Ryon d’Anzex’, and who stopped the clock in 39.61s, but had one pole. Irish rider Patrick Hickey, was fourth with ‘Down Under Z’ (‘Don’t Touch Tiji Hero’ x ’Cassini’) and 4 faults at the penultimate fence in 39.65s. German rider, Laura Hetzel, took fifth place with ‘Angel d’OR’ (‘Askari’ x ‘Darco’), also with 4 faults in a time of 41.17s.
In the 1.40 class Laura Hetzel took the top spot, this time with the eight year old mare ‘Maggie Mae B’, by ‘Casall’ with a winning time of 61.89s. In second was the French rider, Theo Guyonnet with ‘Gente Dame Desmeneaux’ (‘Rock’n Roll Semilly’ x ‘Crown Z’); Dutch rider, Mans Thijssen was third with ‘Chio Z’ (‘Chellano Alpha Z’ x ‘Chacco-Blue’), fourth and fifth places went to the British riders, Miles Jon O’Donnell with ‘Jackpot D.S.’ and Jordan Gann with ‘Kadans’.
Irish rider, Jason Foley and ‘Casia Z’ (‘Cascadello I’ x ‘Crown Z’) were the winners of the 1.35. Second was Brazilian, Felipe Amaral with ‘Diferencio Van Het Lindenhof Z’; third was British, Chloe Winchester with ‘Chakensa PS’; another Brazilian rider was fourth, Joao Paulo Pereira Dos Santos with ‘Arina’ and in fifth was British, Adrian Whiteway with ‘Qwintow Achterhoek’.
Adrian Whiteway was the winner of the 1.30 class with ‘A Special Diamond HST Z’. Another British rider, Emily Ward was second with ‘Millfield Lottery’ whilst the Portuguese rider, Norbert Ell was third with ‘Cuz I Can – S’; British, Ellie Townend was fourth with ‘Kallio B’ and Belgian rider, Antoni Draga closed the top five places with ‘Mitrisha Van Beek’.
The Dutch rider, Mienie Vos with ‘Hastkullens Fantazie’ had the best time in the 1.25; Second was British rider, Ben Walker with ‘Kantini’; third, Spanish,Pedro Mateos Bernáldez with ‘High Blue PS’; Briitsh rider, Pollyanna Gredley was fourth with ‘Catoki’ and in fifth, was Korean rider, Manjun Kwon with ‘Captain Colombo 2’.
The British continued their successes this week, this time in the 1.15 class, Ronnie Jones and ‘Cascum Rockstar’ were the winners, followed by Lauren Caley who took the next two places, second with ‘A-Lemonade Z’ and third with ‘Cherry Diamant’; Emily Glover was fourth with ‘Coco Chanell’ and Bryony Jones was fifth with ‘Billy Kvitjell’.
In the Young Horse classes; ‘Sting de la Supinette’, by ‘Cornet’s Prinz’ x ‘Nonstop’ and owned by Tatiana Iglicki won the seven year old class ridden by Belgian, Cyril Cools, who also rode ‘Neymar K’, who is by ‘Freeman VDL’ into second place. Third was ‘Invictrix Bois Chenu’ (‘Action Breaker’ x ‘Fetiche du Pas’) with another Belgian rider, Antoni Draga. ‘Samoerai Van de Wittemoere’ was fourth with the Austrian rider, Alessandra Reich and in fifth was ‘Pina Blue PS’ with the Italian rider, Camilla Vittadini.
In the six year old class Lina Renstrom who rides for Sweden, took both of the top places with ‘Madara 4’ (‘Million Dollar’ x ‘Centurion’) followed by ‘True Label DC’ (‘Laber D’Amour’ x ‘Elvis Ter Putte’). ‘Chacco Kiddo’ with the Dutch rider, Luciano Zandvliet was equal third alongside ‘Two Blue’ with British rider Karl Robins and in fifth was ‘Heartbreakers Escape’ with the British rider, Alexandra Somerville-Cotton.
This concludes the fourth week and the CSI2* here at the Andalucía Sunshine Tour, which is sponsored by the Junta de Andalucía, through the Consejería de Turismo and Andalucía Exterior, and also the Diputación provincial de Cádiz. Competition returns here on the slopes of Montenmedio this coming Tuesday with the Young Horse classes (5,6, 7 and 8yr olds) and on Thursday the fourth CSI4* will begin.
