The countdown to the XXXII Andalucía Sunshine Tour continues and does so in style. Dehesa Montenmedio once again becomes the epicenter of international show jumping with the staging of the CSI3* Andalucía Pre-Sunshine Tour, the second of the international competitions leading up to the start of the oldest circuit on the Spanish calendar.
Over four intense days, from Thursday to Sunday, the Cádiz venue is already breathing the atmosphere of major events. This second international show arrives strengthened both in sporting level and in top-class participation, with riders using the competition to fine-tune their form ahead of the imminent Andalucía Sunshine Tour.
After an exciting opening weekend, the CSI3* promises to maintain and even raise the competitive bar. The program will begin on Thursday, January 22, with seven classes: four for the CSI3* and three for the young horses CSI, plus two training classes, completing a full day of competition to be held on arenas 5, 18 and 19.
The highlight will come on Sunday with the Grand Prix, one of the three Longines FEI Ranking classes to be held over the weekend. The other two ranking classes will be the 1.45m competitions scheduled for Thursday and Friday.
Many of last weekend’s protagonists will return to the arena. Special mention goes to Germany’s Kendra Claricia Brinkop, rider for Stephex Stables, who delivered an outstanding performance with four victories and three second places, and who will be aiming to defend the title she won in last year’s Grand Prix at this very competition. Also returning are Belgians Wilm and Robin Vermeir, Antonio Matos Almeida, Cassandre Malherbe — winner of three young horses CSI classes — and Switzerland’s Sasha Barthe, winner of the CSI2* Grand Prix.
Maximilian Weishaupt, Nicolas Deseuzes, Emilio Bicocchi, Jack Ryan, Julio Arias, Luca Maria Moneta, Susan Fitzpatrick and Robert Murphy will also continue, joined by new arrivals such as Rogier Linssen, American rider Adam Prudent, and Riccardo Pisani, a member of the Italian team at the 2019 European Championships and at last year’s Championships in A Coruña.
A top-level entry list that guarantees maximum competitiveness and turns every class into a true challenge. The event is sponsored by the Regional Government of Andalusia through the Ministry of Tourism and Andalusia Abroad, and by the Provincial Council of Cádiz.
