The golden week gets underway at the XXXII Andalucía Sunshine Tour

Vejer, February 16, 2026.

Dehesa Montenmedio is gearing up for the third week of the XXXII Andalucía Sunshine Tour, featuring the Young Horse Finals, the highly anticipated Invitational Grand Prix, and a stellar line-up of top-level riders that promises thrilling sport.

A major week will begin on Tuesday at Dehesa Montenmedio, marking the third week of the XXXII Andalucía Sunshine Tour. This third installment will host the Young Horse Finals. On Wednesday, February 18, the finals for 7-year-olds (Arena 1), 6-year-olds (Arena 9), and 5-year-olds (Arena 5) will take place.

On Thursday, competition will get underway in the third CSI4*. Friday will feature the 8-year-old Final of the CSIYH, and on Sunday another unforgettable day awaits, with four Grand Prix classes. Among them, the 1.55m Invitational stands out, to be held in Arena 3. This class counts toward the Longines FEI Ranking and serves as a qualifier for the 2026 World Championships and the 2027 European Championships.

It will be a week that once again sees world-class riders competing at Dehesa Montenmedio, including Gilles Thomas, currently No. 4 in the Longines FEI Ranking; Steve Guerdat; Gregory Wathelet; Billy Twomey; Sanne Thijssen; Thibeau Spits; Gerrit Nieberg; Luca Maria Moneta; Mark McAuley; Michael Greeve; Kendra Claricia Brinkop; and Roger Yves Bost.

José María (Jr) Larocca, winner of the Grand Prix in the first two weeks, will have the chance to extend his winning streak with Chris, a horse that has been drawing all the attention.

Several riders have also joined the line-up for the third week, including two of last year’s standouts on the international circuit, Donald Whitaker and Sameh El Dahan.

Representing Spain will be Jesús Garmendia, winner of a 1.50m class last weekend; Alberto Márquez Galobardes; Julio Arias; Jesús Bamonde; Alejandro Fernández; Gerardo Menéndez; Alex Codina; Diego Ramos Maneiro; and Álvaro González de Zárate, who claimed victory in the Medium Tour Grand Prix last Sunday.

After fully living up to expectations during its first two weeks, the XXXII Andalucía Sunshine Tour is now set to deliver a third week of top-level competition, further cementing its status as one of the must-attend events on the international equestrian calendar.

Beyond the competition arena, Saturday, February 21 will also mark the anniversary of the Montenmedio Contemporary Foundation, a unique open-air museum space in Spain, located within the Dehesa de Montenmedio and covering approximately 500 hectares. It is a place well worth visiting, dedicated to contemporary art and to exploring the relationship between art and nature.

The Andalucía Sunshine Tour is sponsored by the Government of Andalusia, through the Ministry of Tourism and Andalusia Abroad, and by the Provincial Council of Cádiz—an institutional backing that strengthens the event’s international profile and its sporting, economic, and tourism impact on the region.
